Screen rendering of compound objects created in Quark Xpress 3.x. It comprises original "paintings" in Photoshop, map elements created in Freehand and text and layout in Quark. Only the raster elements seem intact.
We discovered this in our DAMS at the L.A. Times after a major upgrade to the operating system around 2005. We were in the process of uploading legacy files in the 10 to 12 years old range when the Solaris upgrade occurred. After that, the legacy uploads failed to render properly. These are costume rendering sketches from my past- most were drawn 20 to 30 years ago for classes or shows.
These sketches are among my favorites, though they were a class exercise and never got made. In the play, the lead character, M. Jourdain, aspires to leave his middle class and become friends with nobility. Cléonte, who is in love with M Jourdain's daughter, with the assistance of his valet Covielle, disguises himself and presents himself to Jourdain as the son of the Sultan of Turkey. Needless to say, M. Jourdain is taken in and consents with delight to have his daughter marry foreign royalty. He is even more delighted when the "Turkish prince" informs him that, as father of the bride, he too will be officially enobled at a special ceremony. The last scene of the play presents this ridiculous ceremony, full of mock-Turkish mumbo-jumbo. Here is the outfit they put on M. Jourdain, which is a "Turkish" version of what King Louis XIV himself would wear in coronation robes.

Got my snail-generator to export a file format that can be directly imported into Blender, the industry standard GUI for 3D rendering. Development can go faster now, as the built-in renderer yields results in seconds, rather than the hours or days required for ray-tracing.

Architectural rendering of Phase 3 of William & Mary's Integrated Science Center shows it filling the triangular space created by ISC 1 (to the right) and ISC 2 (above). The project also includes a new greenhouse atop ISC 2. The rounded structure on the left is a 300-seat lecture hall. Construction on ISC 3 began in 2014.
