Mengenal Focal Length (FL) dan MFD (Minimum Focus Distance)
Kapan kita memilih lensa wide, normal dan tele? Sederhananya, wide kalau ingin memperoleh banyak obyek (melebar) dengan jarak yg pendek. Biasanya untuk motret foto kumpulan orang berjejer (teman alumni, keluarga dll). Foto normal, digunakan untuk portrait baik setengah badan ataupun sebadan penuh. Lensa tele untuk motret obyek dari jarak jauh. Biasanya buat candid (hehehe).
Dalam foto berikut, saya akan share hasil dari 3 lensa wide yang berdekatan FLnya : 35mm, 30mm dan 20mm. Masing2 dengan MFD : 40cm, 33 cm dan 30cm. Bunga difoto diupayakan benar2 menggunakan MFDnya. Caranya : ring fokus diputar mentok sampai jarak minimumnya, lalu kamera maju mundur untuk fokus (ambil muter ring fokus juga) untuk memperoleh sudut pengambilan yg pas.
Canon dan Lydith mirip viewnya. FL Canon yg lebih tele terkompensasi dengan MFD Lydith yang lebih pendek. Sementara Topcor walau MFDnya paling pendek, perbedaan FLnya jauh dengan yg terdekat (selisih 10cm). Dapat dilihat bagaimana Topcor dengan jarak 30cm mendapat sudut yg lebih lebar. Itu pula yang menjadi alasan mengapa lensa wide cenderung lebih mahal bila semakin wide ...
Apakah dengan FL yang berbeda juga menentukan bokehnya?
This is a frame of a dynamic simulation I have developed for the italian artist Andrea Galvani. The objects sublimate into particles one by one. It was projected in a gallery at the objects real size: 4x2.5 meters.
