Haven't been to Nighoj for close to 2 years.. I am all ready to flex the 10-18 ultra-wide-angle-lens muscles. Let's see when that happens.
Till then.. enjoy this :)
'Remembering Old Manila' On Black
The San Sebastian Church in Manila “is the first all-iron church in the world, the first iron edifice in Asia and the second in the world after Eiffle Tower.”
Some historians claim Gustave Eiffel designed the metal structure of the church.

On the 1st December 2013, a large tree in Bancroft Gardens in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, was yarn bombed, forming The Remembering Tree. The Remembering Tree is a place to come together and reflect and celebrate those you love or have loved and lost. The tree is visible from many aspects of the town and will act as a colourful focal point over the festive period, giving people space and time to celebrate life in all its colours. It will in place for the duration of Christmas and into the New Year.
The "yarn bombing" was carried out by a charity called GAGA, who aim to generate growth for African children and communities devastated by HIV-AIDS and poverty, through the goodwill of people in the UK and elsewhere. You can visit the GAGA web site here:

As time passes, we change. What was once a given will no longer be so in the future. Only the remembrance remains in our thoughts.

Today is Veterans Day. I thought of my father . Second Lieutenant Thomas Parker served on a destroyer in the South Pacific during WW2. He was always very proud to have served in the military.
I thought I would share a story about my Dad. As a young boy growing up in Napa California, Dad had a pen pal named Wolfgang in Germany. They corresponded for years. When the US entered the war Dad joined the Navy and he didn’t hear from Wolfgang for the remainder of the war.. After the war ended Dad received a letter from Wolfgang explaining what had happened to him. “From the first day of the war till the last I was a soldier forced to fight against people whom I didn’t want to hurt because they hadn’t hurt me.” He shared his experiences during the war, his time as a prisoner of war, and how he came home and was reunited with his family.
At the end of the letter he wrote that he would like to continue correspondence but would understand if my Dad would not want to. My Dad wrote back and they continued to correspond for the rest of their lives.
My parents traveled to East Germany in the 70’s and met Wolfgang and his family. I still have the teddy bear that they gave my mother to give to me. For me it’s such an amazing story of two men divided by war but reunited by friendship.

November 11 is Rememberance Day for all Canadians. The Jour du Souvenir is the day annually that we collectively remember and pay respect to all our fallen and serving citizens. Join me in one minute of silence...to remember their sacrifices.

I decided to try something and this big greeting from @simonsaysstamp was perfect for that 😄
I stamped this greeting with regular Distress Inks, used 7 different colors. I first inked the stamp in a couple of places, stamped, used a different color in different places than first and stamped. Did that until the whole greeting was finished 😊 I used the mini cubes though.
Today would have been my mum's 92nd birthday. She outlived everyone in her whole family! I took this photo in 2007 back in Canada where she lived.
If you are curious about the title please refer to the tags, perhaps check out the "Ngati Porou" web site. Log freighter off the coast of Gisborne on a cold evening.
Had to tilt the image by 1 degree in order to level the horizon, the rest is au naturel.
Remembering - A scene from a dream where one almost remembers a time and place but it’s not quite right and inside out.. From a former school for the blind, Coatesville, PA.
I could have survived, but there were far too few who could look me straight in the eyes............ and feel something for me.
We all tend to turn our backs on the street children in the big cities. In so many ways this must be the greatest unjust committed by humanity in the 21st Century.

Seis de noviembre. El pasaje de su colonia está callado. Silencio.
Esa tarde… "I'll say it any way, today is another day to find you". Recuerda la canción, recuerda su rostro, su voz y, por primera vez, está pensando en esa persona.

As long as I remain in your memory, I am not gone.
Today’s prompt on ODC being immortal gave me the inspiration to create this image. I had seen a ghostly photograph about a year ago and knew one day I wanted to try my hand at it. I have to give a huge thanks to my husband for laying and waiting for 101 photos to be taken while I ran back and forth to check the viewfinder for just the right position. (I believe he took a short nap at one point). After playing, cropping, layering, enhancing, and converting to black and white, I decided to add a blue filter.
