Faestock's image has been worked in a personal challenge between HeedingtheMuses and myself to work in each other's style of art but keeping true to our own style..

This is HeedingtheMuses' style of painting: www.flickr.com/photos/nancee_art/10704082915/

A most exciting form of photo painting which I have not been able to reproduce YET. Will give it another go.

With the heat we've had around here on the east coast of the US, I've become just about fed up with Summer. I'm ready for a change in seasons. So on that note, I went back to photos I took before the summer.

This shot captures the very last spot of snow I ever saw this past Spring (you can see the leaves on this tree hadn't even opened yet). We caught a late season snow shower one morning and I ran outside to capture the flowers with a gentle blanket of white. As the sun came up, the snow started melting and melting fast. I got to this tree and I thought the snow had already melted away or fallen to the ground. This was the only pocket of snow that remained, still clinging to the white blossoms, almost like it was trying to hide from the sun. It's also the last shot I took that day and I haven't seen any snow since.

Please Mother Nature, speed up the exit of summer and bring on the Autumn colors.

Other symbols of Remembrance Day assemblies held in schools, wreaths laid at local war memorials, a reading of the fourth verse of the ode of Remembrance, two minutes of silence observed at 11.00 a.m.

When you attend Remembrance Day you will experience mixed emotions as you see artillery canons being fired as well as the presence of significant Canadian leaders such as the Prime Minister.

In addition, just seeing the many military people in Ottawa makes it feel real and personal.

my last photo of Rodan...he passed away peacefully in his sleep last night...a sweet and loving friend I will always remember.

This is a fascinating novel about an early settlement in the Australian bush and a young (seemingly British) man who, after he had been living with the Aborigines for several years, appears in their village.

Remember When - Alan Jackson

Sometimes; The miracles, they are just good people with kind hearts 💞💫

A veces; los milagros, son simplemente buenas personas con corazones amables 💞💫

Uma linda e florida quinta flower, cheia de luz e cor...

Yes. I remember Adlestrop—

The name, because one afternoon

Of heat the express-train drew up there

Unwontedly. It was late June.

The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat.

No one left and no one came

On the bare platform. What I saw

Was Adlestrop—only the name

And willows, willow-herb, and grass,

And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry,

No whit less still and lonely fair

Than the high cloudlets in the sky.

And for that minute a blackbird sang

Close by, and round him, mistier,

Farther and farther, all the birds

Of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Today we head over to one of my favorite value resorts, Pop Century. If you're like me, you will basically do anything to get the shot you want even if it involves stopping in front of the entrance to take a pic of a sign. What I really like about this photo is the sky. It was such a great sunset that evening and the different colors were just amazing. What would you go through to get that shot you want so bad? Have a magical day!

Manchester Airport

Laker Skytrain DC10-10 G-AZZD and Air Florida DC10-30 N1035F on the stands at Manchester preparing for trans-Atlantic crossings. Today the background is taken up with freight and maintenance hangars

The Laker aircraft was delivered new to them in 1972. It went on to fly with Capitol Air (May 82), Arrow Air (April 84), World Airways (October 84), American Airlines (Jan 87), Hawaiian Airlines (May 94) and finally Fed Ex (from June 96). Scrapped at Mojave by September 2002. When with American it appears in the opening scenes of the 1989 movie "An Innocent Man"

The Air Florida machine was new to Overseas National Airways (ONA) in September 1978 and went on to fly with Seaboard World Airlines (Dec 78), Loftleidir (Jan 79), Garuda (October 79), Air Florida (March 80), Spantax (September 82) and finally FedEx from May 1984 as N304FE. Airfleets report it still active with them today (Feb 2020) at 41 years of age! "Planefinder" noted it flying Indianapolis to Lambert St Louis on February 28th 2020. Further update: Noted stored September 2022 for later scrapping.

I can't remember where I took this! Within the 13th century south curtain wall I think.

We don't know when the newly finished Bothwell Castle became habitable. It is known to have been in use in 1278, as in that year Walter de Moravia dated a charter from "Botheuyle". Just 13 years later, Edward I of England was asked to arbitrate between the various claimants for the vacant Scottish throne. The claimants were forced to acknowledge Edward as their Lord Paramount and accept his arbitration (a decision influenced in part by the fact that most of the claimants had large estates in England which they would have lost had they defied him). Edward then ordered that every Scottish royal castle be placed temporarily under his control, and while Bothwell was not 'royal', it is likely that it came under English control at this time too.

From the naming of John Balliol as King of Scots in November 1292, relations with a domineering Edward of England steadily deteriorated, a situation made worse by Scottish factional fighting. When Edward discovered in 1295 that a Franco-Scottish alliance (later known as the Auld Alliance) had been signed, he started preparations to invade the following year.

Shot on Kentmere 400 PAN. Never a fan of earlier iterarions of this film, the latest version is exceptionally well behaved. I mean, just look at it!

Haven't been to Nighoj for close to 2 years.. I am all ready to flex the 10-18 ultra-wide-angle-lens muscles. Let's see when that happens.

Till then.. enjoy this :)

On the 1st December 2013, a large tree in Bancroft Gardens in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, was yarn bombed, forming The Remembering Tree. The Remembering Tree is a place to come together and reflect and celebrate those you love or have loved and lost. The tree is visible from many aspects of the town and will act as a colourful focal point over the festive period, giving people space and time to celebrate life in all its colours. It will in place for the duration of Christmas and into the New Year.

The "yarn bombing" was carried out by a charity called GAGA, who aim to generate growth for African children and communities devastated by HIV-AIDS and poverty, through the goodwill of people in the UK and elsewhere. You can visit the GAGA web site here:

Some historians claim Gustave Eiffel designed the metal structure of the church.

*Remember that life is not meant to be wasted. We can always be chasing the sun. — Sara Bareilles.

Today is Veterans Day. I thought of my father . Second Lieutenant Thomas Parker served on a destroyer in the South Pacific during WW2. He was always very proud to have served in the military.

I thought I would share a story about my Dad. As a young boy growing up in Napa California, Dad had a pen pal named Wolfgang in Germany. They corresponded for years. When the US entered the war Dad joined the Navy and he didn’t hear from Wolfgang for the remainder of the war.. After the war ended Dad received a letter from Wolfgang explaining what had happened to him. “From the first day of the war till the last I was a soldier forced to fight against people whom I didn’t want to hurt because they hadn’t hurt me.” He shared his experiences during the war, his time as a prisoner of war, and how he came home and was reunited with his family.

At the end of the letter he wrote that he would like to continue correspondence but would understand if my Dad would not want to. My Dad wrote back and they continued to correspond for the rest of their lives.

My parents traveled to East Germany in the 70’s and met Wolfgang and his family. I still have the teddy bear that they gave my mother to give to me. For me it’s such an amazing story of two men divided by war but reunited by friendship.

I decided to try something and this big greeting from @simonsaysstamp was perfect for that 😄

I stamped this greeting with regular Distress Inks, used 7 different colors. I first inked the stamp in a couple of places, stamped, used a different color in different places than first and stamped. Did that until the whole greeting was finished 😊 I used the mini cubes though.

"There are threads of old sound heard over and over,

phrases of Shakespeare or Mozart, the slender

wands of the auroras playing out from them

into dark time, the passing of a few

migrants high in the night far from the ancient flocks,

far from the rest of the words far from the instruments."

Today would have been my mum's 92nd birthday. She outlived everyone in her whole family! I took this photo in 2007 back in Canada where she lived.

A close up of these beautiful Forget Me Nots I took last week for one of my days! (Processed in Lightroom 4 with Whipped Cream Lightroom Preset / King Pack) - I just love how perfect these look. They're so tiny until you get really close to them ♥
