This photo has been taken as part of the scientific effort of the salvage archaeologist team H.U.N.E. to document the Sudanese Arab tribe of the Manasir and their cultural landscape 'Dar al-Manasir' situated at the Fourth Cararact of the River Nile.

The homeland of the Manasir will be submerged by the reservoir lake of the Hamdab High Dam (Merowe Multi-Purpose Hydro Project) in the very near future and all inhabitants have to be relocated by the Sudanese government.

St Andrew's Cross Spiders are named for their bright web decorations - zig-zag ribbons of bluish-white silk that form a full or partial cross through the centre of the orb web. Females have a silvery carapace and a silver, yellow, red and black banded upper abdomen with two longitudinal yellow stripes below. The spider sits with the legs in pairs. The brown and cream coloured males are smaller than females.

The Library of Occidental College seeks to make known its unique collection of materials regarding the Japanese American relocation and evacuation during World War II. These historical documents were preserved through the efforts of President Remsen DuBois Bird and College Librarian, Elizabeth McCloy, in the mid-1940’s. An initial grant from the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation’s Archival Grants Program in 2004 partially funds the Library’s digital archive project to preserve, digitize and distribute a selection of the letters, materials and newspapers published in the Japanese internment camps during World War II.

In The Relocation Program: A Guidebook for the Residents of Relocation Centers, it is stated that "At all centers, the WRA [War Relocation Authority] encourages the evacuee residents to assume the fullest possible responsibility for publishing a newspaper that meets the community needs..." Indeed, residents of relocation centers produced numerous publications, describing and documenting their experience.

Pararescuemen from the 58th Rescue Squadron out of Nellis AFB, fast rope out of a HH-60 Pavehawk as they reach the simulated crash site, at Ft. Huachuca, during a mass casualty scenario as part of exercise Angel Thunder. The Mass casualty scenario involved two CH-47 Chinooks crashing. Pararescuemen from the 48th and 58th Rescue Squadrons were flown in on HH-60 Pavehawks by the 66th and 305th Rescue squadrons, while A-10 Thunderbolt II's from the 358th Fighter Squadron provided security around the area. Once on the ground, the Pararescuemen asessed the scene, provided quick triage to survivors, relocated the survivors to the casualty collection point, where the survivors were then loaded onto a HC-130, 79th Rescue Squadron, and transported to Davis-Monthan AFB-simulating a level 2/3 medical facility. A wall beside a partially-demolished hutong near Qianmen. The posters are all advertising new apartments, for the benefit of the soon-to-be-displaced residents. However, the only places that many of these people will be able to afford are a long way from the centre of Beijing.

So much for progress.

I think this is the same hutong in happier days, nearly ten years ago.

These pictures are just a small example of the devastation in and around Tuscaloosa, Alabama right now. Total destruction. Miles long. Miles wide. You see a pile and wonder if it is a house. You stare for a few minutes and still do not know.

It is most interesting to look in these piles and see people's lives, once private, now exposed in the sunshine, laying on the ground.

This building has served as a pre-school since relocation in 1979. The Cottage Hospital was built of cypress pine (white ant resistant) in 1957 and replaced by a brick health services building that continues to serve the community.

Had three relocations calls yesterday, but was only able to respond to one..

It was at the same house as my last call.. This time a ground snake and a larger s.Gopher snake

I placed him here for his photo-shoot. I hoped he wouldn't just fly away. He co-operated for a while before deciding to move on.

A straight forward, Kanji only Koshin Pillar that was relocated to Shirahata Jinja in Fujisawa City, along the Old Tokaido.

For those interested, one can read about Koshin in many places, but I will give a quick summary that I wrote for another image of mine:

Koshin could be described in English as a "Folk Religion." The core belief is that every person has 3 worms residing in his or her body. These worms keep a record of Bad and Good Deeds for a period of 60 days. On the 60th night, the Day of the Monkey, they leave the person's body to report to Tentei (God), who will then review these deeds and pass a fitting judgment on the person.

There are 3 levels of punishments for those that have been acting badly. If You have Bad Deeds on Your record, You will either become sick, have Your life span shortened or You will Die.

Of course, people don't want any of this to happen, particularly if they've been up to no good. Therefore, to stop the worms from going to Tentei, there are 2 options: First, stay up all night every 60th night so the worms cannot leave Your body (which many people did and some still do, usually partying) or Secondly, protecting Yourself with an image of Shomen-Kongo and the 3 wise monkeys.

Shomen-Kongo is a Deity that protects against disease and of course the 3 wise monkeys don't see, hear or say anything bad about what You've been doing.

The Three Monkeys originated in Japan to replace the three worms and employ a kind of Japanese word play and ideogram. The word for Monkey in Japanese is "Saru (さる)." One ending of old Japanese words that means "not" is the ending "Zaru (ざる)." The Three of them would then be See no Evil, Hear no Evil and Speak no Evil, or 見ざる、聞かざる、言わざる. This also sounds like "Seeing Monkey, Hearing Monkey and Speaking Monkey," however each one is covering his eyes, ears and mouth; accordingly. Thus, a play on words was begun and the Three Wise Monkeys became quite popular until the Meiji Restoration called for a separation of Shinto and Buddhism. This resulted in many Pillars being destroyed. Luckily, there were many believers that hid the Pillars and many have now been collected in groups along roadways and at Jinja (Particularly Hie Jinja, whose messenger is the Monkey) and have enjoyed a kind of revival in belief in some areas.

Arizona house mover Garrett Denny is your answer to all building relocation needs. Teamed with father Gary R. Denny, an Arizona structural mover with twenty-one years experience, G R Denny and Son have the know-how, the equipment, and mobility to meet the building moving needs of the entire southwest. This is a building moved for Yavapai College.

You can see the "stock" mirror location holes on the door panel. These are going to be filled before we get the truck painted. Don't know why they built it that way but it sure don't make any sense.

You can also see the mod to the upper door hings (lower is similar) and the new mirror bracket to relocate the stock mirror. Yeah- I know it needs to be painted- just like everything else.

Now when the doors come off the truck is still legal.

WEEK 51.2 – Southaven Burlington Relocation: New Store, Set III

At the very back left corner of the store, we find another tagline; this one reads, “We have it all for less.” In the foreground is the pet department, although it's a small one, seeing as how on the left of the shot the merchandise transitions into what appears to be bath products! Then, on the aisle behind the one I'm standing in, there looks to be laundry baskets. So, yes: Burlington does seem to have it all!
