Relocated from its original trackside location in downtown Onawa and is now part of the Kiwanis Railroad Depot Museum Complex located by the fairgrounds at the north end of Onawa.

I will be busy to pack my boxes for moving from now to settle in the sojourn this Septmeber and also when my new house is buit in next year after October to organize my boxes. If I had time, I will upload my poor photos, but maybe not so much as usual.

And also I cannot write comments to everyone. Please consider my situation. 来年に新居が完成するので、今年の9月から仮住まいで,引っ越しをします。コメントは出来るでしょうが、写真は暇があるときアップしますので、大目に見てください。どうかお許しを・・・。

CEA Projects Myanmar recently undertook a project for the moving of a 25-year-old bottle washer from Wardan in downtown Yangon to the clients’ new soft drink manufacturing plant 20kms away in the Northern Yangon district of Shwe Pyi Thar.

The washer weighed over 45 Tonnes and had been affixed in the same position since its installation over 25 years ago. The washers dimensions of 14m x 3.4m x 4m (LxWxH) resulted in a careful and meticulous removal as the washer was moved from its original operating area, skated through 90 degrees then jacked 1.2 meters off the ground and readied for transportation.

Due to the complexity of the Transportation, special permits were required from six Yangon Townships prior to moving the washer. Due to certain height restrictions on the roads in Yangon transportation began in the early hours to take advantage of the low volume of traffic. CEA teams ensured that power lines, traffic lights and other potential roadside hazards were avoided and kept intact throughout the journey.

Upon arrival at the new plant, the washer was turned to the correct angle and carefully skated into position. The final procedure consisted of levelling the washer to the correct height making it ready for installation and operation. Once again CEA Myanmar in conjunction with CEA Thailand have shown their expertise in a potentially difficult and challenging project that’s was completed on time safely and within budget.

You can see the "stock" mirror location holes on the door panel. These are going to be filled before we get the truck painted. Don't know why they built it that way but it sure don't make any sense.

You can also see the mod to the upper door hings (lower is similar) and the new mirror bracket to relocate the stock mirror. Yeah- I know it needs to be painted- just like everything else.

Now when the doors come off the truck is still legal.

On the 31st March 2017 the library in Chester closed its doors for the last time after 33 years of service. Library services are being relocated into the new Storyhouse building which opens to the public on the 11th May 2017. These pictures where taken during the last hour before the closing bell was rung and the front door locked.

The front facade of the library building is listed and so will be retained in the new northgate development which is expected 2019.

In February 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. It authorized the relocation of all Japanese-Americans living on the West Coast of the United States. Over 120,000 people were sent to 10 war relocation centers. One of them was Manzanar, located in the harsh but beautiful Owens Valley of eastern California. Eventually over 10,000 Japanese-Americans were forced to live in this 500 acre compound for the duration of World War II. Today the National Park Service oversees the site.

Golden Gate Produce Terminal. 1962 to present. View of plant in South San Francisco nearing completion. The move to the privately financed Golden Gate Produce Terminal, west of Bayshore Highway, culminated a long and bitter fight over where the merchants were to relocate after their district in San Francisco was redeveloped.

These pictures are just a small example of the devastation in and around Tuscaloosa, Alabama right now. Total destruction. Miles long. Miles wide. You see a pile and wonder if it is a house. You stare for a few minutes and still do not know.

It is most interesting to look in these piles and see people's lives, once private, now exposed in the sunshine, laying on the ground.

Sheik Dawood, after querying on why we take photographs, introduced him as the Secretary of the Local Association. He gave a brief on the residents mainly people who got relocated from Burma in 1966. He said the residents constructed worshipping places , a Mosque and a Murugan temple. The residents from both the communities maintain good relations

Relocated and went without internet for nearly a month (longest stretch since student days). Lauren and I occupied the cafe around the corner bi-weekly, nursing beverages while milking the wifi connection.

Our new place is surrounded by these yuppie cafes which all sit empty most of the time. We would choose a new one and drop the obligatory dough for some concotion that would sit on the counter while we write emails or surfed the latest new. '

It was funny how disconnected one feels in the modern age without 24 hour internet access. With everything that was happening in Japan we were in a constantly wondering about updates, etc. The living quarters took on a different vibe though without the constant buzz of the computer. We read more. Went for more bike rides.

Had three relocations calls yesterday, but was only able to respond to one..

It was at the same house as my last call.. This time a ground snake and a larger s.Gopher snake

I placed him here for his photo-shoot. I hoped he wouldn't just fly away. He co-operated for a while before deciding to move on.

A straight forward, Kanji only Koshin Pillar that was relocated to Shirahata Jinja in Fujisawa City, along the Old Tokaido.

For those interested, one can read about Koshin in many places, but I will give a quick summary that I wrote for another image of mine:

Koshin could be described in English as a "Folk Religion." The core belief is that every person has 3 worms residing in his or her body. These worms keep a record of Bad and Good Deeds for a period of 60 days. On the 60th night, the Day of the Monkey, they leave the person's body to report to Tentei (God), who will then review these deeds and pass a fitting judgment on the person.

There are 3 levels of punishments for those that have been acting badly. If You have Bad Deeds on Your record, You will either become sick, have Your life span shortened or You will Die.

Of course, people don't want any of this to happen, particularly if they've been up to no good. Therefore, to stop the worms from going to Tentei, there are 2 options: First, stay up all night every 60th night so the worms cannot leave Your body (which many people did and some still do, usually partying) or Secondly, protecting Yourself with an image of Shomen-Kongo and the 3 wise monkeys.

Shomen-Kongo is a Deity that protects against disease and of course the 3 wise monkeys don't see, hear or say anything bad about what You've been doing.

The Three Monkeys originated in Japan to replace the three worms and employ a kind of Japanese word play and ideogram. The word for Monkey in Japanese is "Saru (さる)." One ending of old Japanese words that means "not" is the ending "Zaru (ざる)." The Three of them would then be See no Evil, Hear no Evil and Speak no Evil, or 見ざる、聞かざる、言わざる. This also sounds like "Seeing Monkey, Hearing Monkey and Speaking Monkey," however each one is covering his eyes, ears and mouth; accordingly. Thus, a play on words was begun and the Three Wise Monkeys became quite popular until the Meiji Restoration called for a separation of Shinto and Buddhism. This resulted in many Pillars being destroyed. Luckily, there were many believers that hid the Pillars and many have now been collected in groups along roadways and at Jinja (Particularly Hie Jinja, whose messenger is the Monkey) and have enjoyed a kind of revival in belief in some areas.
