I have been reading up on the work of the mid-century modernists and this is sort of inspired by the work of the photographers of the Texas Bauhaus
View from our room in Akaroa at sunset on our last night . We had two nights here for short brake away from the City. May 9, 2013, New Zealand.
The most French town in New Zealand, Akaroa will have you entranced with its historic buildings, magnificent harbour and passion for fine food.
An easy drive south-east of Christchurch, Banks Peninsula is the South Island's most interesting volcanic feature. Originally an island formed by two volcanic cones, the peninsula has two dominant craters which form Lyttelton and Akaroa Harbours. The peninsula was named for botanist Joseph Banks, who sailed with Captain James Cook on the Endeavour.
Located on the south east side of the deep, sheltered Akaroa Harbour, the charming township of Akaroa has a special point of difference - it was the only French settlement in New Zealand.
In 1838 a French whaler, Captain Langlois, decided that Akaroa was an ideal location for a town that could service the whaling ships. He subsequently acquired the peninsula in a dubious land deal with the local Maori. He then returned to France and arranged for a group of French and German families to sail to New Zealand, with the intention of forming a French colony. Taken From: www.newzealand.com/int/akaroa/

Sometimes I bike past a scene and I immediatly see the end result in my mind. These reflecting buildings are an example of that. It makes a trip to the grocery store interesting :)
Close up view of Sun Princess docked in Sydney. It has since been sold and is now renamed Pacific World.
Out chasing a blip on the radar a week ago. I came up with this shot near Calgary during the blue hour. The rain on the left side of the image is reflecting light pollution from a nearby town.
This is one of the best sunsets I have seen in a while in San Diego. This is Ocean Beach, I have never gone to this beach at night and probably wouldn't return without being armed with a gun. Glad I caught this sunset, but wow I thought I was going to get mugged.

“Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.”
― Markus Zusak
My favorite photo I took after the rainstorm the other day... A simple little rose in the front of my house that often gets overlooked. Another reason to love macro shots. <3
So I was FINALLY able to catch up and visit the photo stream of each of my followers and leave comments (visited many other streams too!) I love being able to get ideas from my friends here, and learn a new trick or two... :-)

Here's the sunset after that storm last night. Not the perfect location as there's not much foreground subject at Lee Point, but the pools and the sky make up for that!
