I was going to post this in LJ, but most of the people on it aren't doll people and I'd doubt they relate. I'm feeling really down today, for multiple reasons.
1.) Got into a misunderstanding on LJ that resulted in me getting internet-yelled-at. We cleared it up in the end but I'm fairly sensitive to other upset people.
2.) Over the last few days I've been going back and forth with a woman over email, trying to negotiate buying her kenner from her. We talked a lot about it, and she had a price she was looking for. I explained my situation and offered her a price a bit below hers. She said that since she'd had the doll since childhood, she really wasn't trying to make things difficult over a hundred bucks or so and would much rather the doll go to a good home.
After days worth of talking, she said that out of everyone that had contacted her about the kenner, she liked me the best, and I had been fairly communicative, rational, and friendly overall, and she'd just rather sell to me. I was THIS close to buying her. I had confirmed the purchase, and was about to paypal her the money, when she emailed me saying she was having cold feet about the transaction, and asked a few more questions.
I answered them all and said I'd wait to hear back from her, but I never got another word from her again, and when I checked back, the doll was going for several hundred more then we agreed for, so I'm assuming she realized she wanted to get more for her, and either couldn't be bothered to let me know, or was just too embarrassed.
I don't really blame her, I'm sure I'd feel the same way if I was selling a Kenner, it's just after all that trouble, and about a gazillion emails, you'd think she'd at least send over a "sorry, changed my mind" right? :( I'm trying to understand it from her perspective, since I can never stay mad at anyone, and I'd probably feel bad about the entire situation, but I can't help feeling more then a little hurt and disappointed.
I told myself in the beginning not to get my hopes up, and if she'd just shot my offer down to begin with that would have been fine, but considering how one second I was getting ready to paypal her for it, and the next it had all gone up in flames, I really HAD gotten my hopes up over it.
I'm telling myself it's just dolly fate, and that it wasn't meant to be, but it doesn't make me any less sad over it. It's not like I missed an auction, or missed out on a chance, so much as had it taken away at the last second.
3.) I am in LOVE with Twinky's Plum, who is now for sale, but I just had to reply that I couldn't get her, because as much as I want to I can't be that financially irresponsible. I'm a student, and already in debt, which I'm hoping to cover a bit with my next customs. Once again, dolly fate I suppose.
4.) I'm sooo sick right now. I'm all gross and snotty and tired from lack of sleep. It's probably contributing to all this misery. Ew ew ew ew! My nose is all sore too XD
Okay, I feel better just typing that out. Please feel free to ignore it, I just wanted to get it out there, and I'm feeling a bit cheered up already (my cat is snuggling me)
I'm sure I'll be fine in the afternoon once I have some lunch, and hopefully this will be the only melodramatic flickr post ever make.
Relate to the previous photo some how the students cheer up for the teachers and not their friend on court maybe is because of teacher's day

Moses Thomas (1825-1878) was a significant figure in the history of the area now known as the City of Whittlesea, Victoria, Australia. Moses and Ann and their family lived at "Mayfield", Mernda, near Whittlesea, Victoria.
