Water is very! very-very cold there, but it's a pure pleasure to put hands under a stream when there is a hot day and you're walking around :)

A Refreshing Swim

30 November 2013 -- 334/365

Jamestown, Rhode Island

The photography gods have a very warped sense of humor. I decided to visit Fort Wetherill State Park this morning for my daily photo. The Spanish-American War era Fort is in ruins, and there's hardly an inch of the concrete structure that is not covered in graffiti. I spent about 90 minutes wandering through the ruins and taking countless photos. I had several that would work well for this project, and satisfied with the morning's results, I returned to my car and headed to lunch. Driving down the access road to the park, I spotted these three divers coming out of the water. A quick slam on the brakes followed by a reverse-race back to a parking area and a sprint from my car to the waterline got me there just in time to take this photo. Fort Wetherill will have to go into a separate collection since this clearly trumps any graffiti strewn ruins that will still be there tomorrow!

The trio had been diving off the coast of Jamestown for the better part of the morning. When I asked how the conditions were, they replied, "Cloudy." The last week has been extremely windy and the silt in the water is still unsettled. Not that Narragansett Bay is ever truly clear, mind you, but after the wind we've had it would be a thick underwater fog. The water temperature today was 46 F (8 C) so it was definitely a brisk swim.

Post processing started with a brilliant warm filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

One more from archives...! taken somewhere... I dont recall ;-)

I wanted San Pelligrino but they didn't have it so I ordered the only one they had which is Perrier, taste good too :) I think the LX3 dynamic color mode is also very nice.

Found this one on the side of an old drugstore in Gaffney South Carolina. As we all know, this is a very distant memory.

soaking tired feet in a secluded stream after a hard 10K race in New Salem, MA. Truthfully, I was a little nervous about sitting in a rushing cascade with the camera, but hey... life's short. feelin' good =)

No entiendo a los expertos de marketing, tantos master, posgrados, conferencias internacionales, psicología de masas para poner un mensajito que en vez de darme la pulsión o tentación de comprar, me invitan a pensar bien en ellos y toda su parentela.

I don't understand marketing experts, many masters, postgrades, international conferences, mass psychology to stamp a little message in a bottle cap ("go on participating") that instead of giving me the drive or temptation to buy, they invite me to think about them and their relatives.

Se terminó la cuenta free, mis fotos se caen, pero pueden verlas todas en mi grupo.

My flickr free account is out, my firsts pics disappear, but you can see them all here.

it's so hot today, wanna just jump into a pool with ice but i'll probably drown because i can't swim :/

done with first final and i think i'm pretty well prepared for the second final so... I'm back to flickr temporarily :D

Hmm... a bit too tight here...should have shot wider....to include the background more...

I was on a movin bus, when I turned left and I saw this nice view from a unique angle

Taken during a short trip to Kemensah Waterfall in 2009.

Kemensah Waterfall

There is such a nice looking waterfall almost a stone throw from KLCC. At the perimeter boundary of the federal capital Kuala Lumpur. The Quartz Ridge is a protrusions supported by low hills the encompasses Kuala Lumpur. This unique terrain of almost 17 kilometers long with near vertical walls on both side is home to quite a number of waterfalls.

Approaching the Quartz Ridge from Ampang, 2 distinct sections can be identified. This first waterfall lay at the eastern end of the right visible sections. As we move towards the track to the waterfall, the last view before we disappear into the canopy of trees. The first path of the journey was 1.5 kilometers of walking with a gradual slope followed by one that was more in gradient. Still easy walking, starting with bamboo clumps and later into tropical forest. The track broad enough for a motorized vehicle at one time is now badly eroded with deep gorges at the center. Many stages [at least 7 times] the track was disrupted by fallen trees.

Then up a steep slope and into flat land! No, we were not in some plain but rather a narrow strip of land about 7/8 meters wide with valleys on both side. That was another stretch of the Quartz Ridge. Low trees and bamboo were the main vegetation and companion for the next 1.5 kilometers.

Across a small stream and we were at the lower camp site. Away down a corner there was this waterfall all 38 meters tall and 20 meters broad. It was not a dramatic waterfall but beautiful among heavily forested surroundings. At the base of the waterfall, huge boulders broke the force of the downpour and there was no pool or landing suitable for bathing or swimming.

Out of the "woods" the waterfall was then in a uninterrupted view.

Summer is back and nothing better then refreshing juice and fruits

I've been archive diving looking for a shot a magazine wants to publish (no money!) for an ad for the Toronto Bird Observatory and was going through lots of shots yesterday (I'm sick of looking at my own shots!!!) so I saw lots of stuff I'd forgotten about, like this for example from a store window I always liked this shot :D

I was about open this can when I got an idea of a photograph.
