If there’s one drink in the Caribbean which screams “Christmas” it would definitely have to be sorrel. From Trinidad and Tobago in the south (include Guyana in mainland South America) to Jamaica in the north, as you make you way up the island chain… islanders all appreciate a cold glass of sorrel on those hot Caribbean days. As we have islands in the Caribbean so do we have variations of this refreshing drink (recipe), so please use this as a basic guide for making sorrel and do add your own personal touch.

Painting the curbs outside of the Renaissance Hotel, Atyrau, Kazakhstan.
The hotel, and the city, was due to host a visit by the UK Prime Minster (David Cameron) and the President of Kazakhstan (Nursultan Nazarbayev).
The bus stop has been newly bedecked with images, and in the background, the Ardager Apartments are having their windows cleaned - spot the two tiny guys in the top right corner dangling from ropes.
Friends and colleagues who stay in the Ardager were told to keep their windows closed, and to not stand by them for the whole of Sunday ... "in case they got shot" ... it seemed security for the visit was being taken very seriously.
Location: Waste water holding dam at a quarry near Durbanville.
Description: Bio-hazard or Bio-fuel? This purple tin floating on a mat of bright green algae caught my eye recently. Perhaps it was the bright contrasting colours, or perhaps I was just thirsty... whatever it was, it looked good enough to capture!
Technique: This is another two image vertical panorama with very little further manipulation. After blending the images, I tweaked the levels a bit, and increased the contrast and saturation to the cool-drink tin to make that pop out a little more. A light dab here and there with the dodge brush, a little bit of clarity, and I was done!

Thank you all!
With temperatures in the 90's I keep the bird bath filled. I add ice to the bath when I'm there also.
