I came to Reflection Lakes from Paradise, made several shots of night sky, and had a rest till sunrise. The Mountain was gorgeous at sunrise. There were about 20 or 30 photographers along the road photographing the mountain.

A calm and sunny afternoon at the Reflection Lake in the Mt Rainier National Park.

An early morning shot of Mt. Rainier mirrored nicely in one of the Reflection lakes. Mountain Paradise indeed.

Thanks for your visit and for any comments, faves or suggestions.

Mt. Rainier showed her full beauty.

Thanks very much for stopping by while I've been away, and for all your continued kind comments and favorites. I wish you all the best in the New Year!

I think I've shot this tree every time that I've gone to Reflection Lakes and it doesn't seem to want to get any taller. :-) this was taken about 7:30 at night and Tonia and I hadn't eaten since 9:00am but there was no way I could pass here without stopping. :-)

ok, it's one of the Reflection Lakes, but that duck was amazing. It was like it had it's own light beam on it. Darling Tonia had been waiting in the warm car came up behind me and asked how much I paid it to bolt through. :)

Muir Snowfield, Anvil Rock. Camp Muir is barely visible. Tents and buildings are visible in large view.

Thank you for your positive response on my last image. It means a lot to me to get feedback. I'm trying to be more active on here again. Here's another view of that incredible lenticular cloud at Mt Rainier last fall. It was truly magical :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Reflection Lake, Paradise, Mount Rainier National Park. Hope you all had a great weekend! I spent it up at Rainier - Paradise. First time really shooting Paradise. I think for the first time, I've experienced the magic of this place. Everything is so unpredictable, especially the weather. Just 30 minutes prior to this, it was completely sopped in with fog, you could barely see the water and the trees across the way. I thought the mountain was a no show here today. As soon as the sun crested above the foothills, magic unfolded. The heat from the light caused the fog to clear and the light hit it just right creating this warm glow. Pretty cool to watch. Really all around great morning. Thanks for visiting!

Have a fabulous Friday and weekend!

Mount Rainier and night sky at Reflection Lake in Mount Rainier National Park.

The snow is creeping down the mountains and will soon be on valley floor in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. I was at Reflections Lake in the Palmer Hayflats on a nice sunny but cold day when I captured this image looking east towards the Chugach Mountains near Palmer. It's interesting that the snow is creating it's own little weather system with the clouds being formed directly from the snow. The leaves are pretty much off the trees with only the evergreens bringing some green to the photo.

Sorry about the lack of participation in the past week or so, everyone - I needed a quick reboot and some time away from Flickr. But Im back and can't wait to see what everyone's been shooting.

I snapped this photo at sunrise this morning at Reflection Lake, Mount Rainier.

Thank you for all your comments and Fav’s

I heard that the road had been cleared to Reflection Lakes and so I made a quick run up there to see my happy place, might be a little early in the year for reflections though..... The forecast said clearing in the afternoon but, (repeat after me) THE MOUNTAIN MAKES IT'S OWN WEATHER! :-) No hail this time, just rain and fog, still, it was fascinating standing there knowing what I wasn't seeing. I'll put a pick in comments for those who don't know what the heck I'm talking about. Happy Friday Eve!

I watched these two for quite a while, care free and beautiful living in a National Park where they are protected from being shot by anything but a camera.

I made a point of finding the other Reflection Lakes this time, from the road the trail is hidden by a large rock. Much smaller than my happy place, but it was just me and the deer. :-)

"But once we have tasted far streams, touched the gold,

found some limit beyond the waterfall,

a season changes, and we come back, changed

but safe, quiet, grateful."

Sunrise shot here...I didn't quite get a spectacular sunrise, but, beautiful nonetheless.

Quiet. Not a breath of wind. Just a silent lake in the summer air, a beautiful mountain, and a few brave alpine wildflowers.

Even though I've barely scratched the surface of Mount Rainier National Park, I believe it's one of the most beautiful places in the area. There is so much to see, and it's so unapologetically wild.

I had a planned weekend at Mount Rainier NP where we had heavy rains and overcast for most of the weekend. There was no wildflowers anywhere on the mountain.....our hot summer and spring had them blooming 6 weeks early, even at the high elevations. This is normally the peak weekend for wildflowers. It cleared up Sunday morning. This is at Reflection Lake shortly after sunrise..

Tonia and I entered Rainier at Sunrise on Sunday and after hiking Sourdough Ridge I wanted to take her to my favorite spot, Tipsoo Lake. Upon arrival she let me know that she wasn't up to the hike so when driving back down I remembered the 'Y' in the road saying 'Paradise'. Hmm. :-) I made the left and a mile or so in Darling T. (who's looking at a map) asks, 'Do you know where you are?' 'Not exactly,' I respond. She replies, 'You're driving around the mountain....' to which I respond, 'Cool.....' :-)

We entered and exited at Sunrise, entered at Stevens, and exited at Paradise. Three of the four in one day and we had gone to Carbon River last week. :-) Have I mentioned how much I love this mountain?

I've been working mass hours for weeks and taking care 'o business at home, love the comments that I've been getting. You all are a barrel of laughs. :-) As always, thanks for stopping by and especially commenting, makes my day. :-)

Mt. Rainier from aptly named Reflection Lakes in Mt Rainier NP

I got off work at 9am, gassed up Gertrude and headed for Rainier on a rainy day, figured I could finally get Narada Falls. Task completed I thought I'd get greedy and go to my happy place, Reflection Lakes. A lone car pulled out as I backed in and I was greeted my a mild cold rain. Didn't care, it was gorgeous. As I stood there I realized that it was snowing in the trees and just as I got a bit weepy at the beauty before me the mountain pelted me with hail to snap me out of it. Grinning like an idiot I set up my tripod and put on the 10 sec. timer (ten seconds Sony?) and held my coat over the camera. The passing Forest Ranger probably thought I was nuts. :-) All this and I still got home with enough time to mow the lawn before the Mrs. knew I was gone. Love living here. :-)

I've pointed this out before, but if you look at the clouds above the mountain here they are formed in the shape of the mountain before it's eruption extending up and over to Little Tahoma to the right, amazing!!!

Woke up early for a sunrise shot at Mt Rainier National Park’s Reflection Lakes. Thoroughly enjoyed the serenity of the moment with the foggy mist.

Just spent a week up in Alaska and it was incredible! Took this on our last night there after the storm clouds cleared out right at sunset.

Early morning view across the lake to Mt. Rainier.

Standing at 14,411 feet, Mt. Rainier, an active volcano in Washington State. It boasts an array of fascinating features, including 25 named glaciers, vibrant wildflower meadows, and diverse wildlife, as well as significant cultural and spiritual importance to indigenous tribes.

This is at the start of the High Lakes Loop Trail in Rainier National Park. I started the hike just as the sun was starting to come up.

....view from Reflection lakes. I still have nuthin' new, one dive into the archives brought this one out, however. At this point I could fill a wall with shots from this special place. It's unusually rare to have water in front of Rainier, as tall as it is, there just isn't that many ops, it seems the water in the mountains is in a hurry to be elsewhere.... :-) 'Less' rain tomorrow is the forecast, wish me luck, by gum I'm going somewhere!

As always, thanks for stopping by and blow it up large to see it all.

A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views across the waters of Reflection Lake with Lassen Peak as a distant backdrop. This was while walking along the evergreen tree-lined shoreline in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Mount Rainier peaks through the fog over Reflection Lake

Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Too much wind for a reflection of the mountain on the lake this day. Still beautiful.

Third day in the park, and finally got a decent view of Rainier. It was slightly windy, so reflection lake had to many ripples to get a nice reflective shot.

I spent two days, rather nights at Mt Rainier NP. I tried to get star trails. It wasn't so easy with many cars running around. I was lucky there was no one around for about 30 minutes. The second problem was moisture. I tried to make one more shot but the lens fogged up.

That is one shot with f/2.8. ISO 100, exp 1688
