The Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio Railroad's southbound Rebel stops at the old 1906 New Orleans Great Northern Railroad depot in Monticello, Mississippi.
Yes, I am aware that the original Rebel trains looked quite a bit different but I like to imagine that the old streamlined trains were still running down the lines like here, on the former New Orleans Great Northern Railroad main line that was still the Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio Railroad's Jackson District of the Louisiana Division and is still that railroad company's main connection to New Orleans.
I also wished that the Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio Railroad and the Illinois Central Railroad had never merged in 1972.
I would have really liked it if those two old rival railroad companies were still around and that this old line was still used as a main line instead of being an almost dead branch line with only one major customer, the International Paper mill in Bogalusa, Louisiana. If that paper mill ever shuts down, then this old line will most likely be abandoned shortly afterwards as it is the only single reason why this section of this old line is still currently active.
Monts Nuba, Soudan / This rebel dormitory was once a polling station. War in the Nuba Mountains restarted after SPLM-N (Sudan People Liberation Movement-North) candidate, Abdelaziz al-Hilu (in poster), was defeated by Ahmed Haroun from ruling National Congress Party. Al-Hilu is now chief of the SPLM-N Nuba rebels. Nuba Mountains, Sudan, 2012.
I feel like I'm breaking a bunch of photography rules with this picture. It's unbarebly noisy. Too exposed, too much contrast. Being a rebel is fun :]
Rebels battle Arkport. Rebels break the 0-0 with 10:44 left in the 2nd half. Then hold on take home the win.
"Tamarod" -REBEL; a public movement aiming for collecting signatures to call for early presidential elections. Their idea is to have a somewhat legal procedure to topple the first civilian president who was elected after the January 25 Revolution, for his failure in achieving the main objectives of the revolution as well as giving his main concern to empowering the Muslim Brotherhood to control the top of power in Egypt. The team has declared that they have collected more than eight million signatures until today.
The first few hours of Friday have witnessed violent attacks against the group. The headquarters was attacked and faced a burning attempt, leaving the flat vandalized but the forms safe. The case is now under investigation after Tamarod accused MB and President Mohamed Morsi of the attack. This came after a group of protesters opposing President Morsi have been attacked in Damanhoor and other cities by the MB supporters.
Tamarod members have faced many attacks in the past few days while collecting forms, a sign of the Muslim Brotherhood losing balance and fearing the people's movement on the 30th of this month.
