The Royal Academy of Arts doesn't really need any introduction but I'll provide you with one anyway. Founded by King George III all the way back in December 1768, its centuries long mission has been to promote British art and design via 'education and exhibition' (thanks, wikipedia!). Still going today, independent and privately funded, it seems to be doing this quite well. In terms of the 'education' aspect - the Royal Academy Schools form the oldest art school in Britain, and also . And for the exhibition - they possess a massive collection of art, much of it extremely rare. And they also champion âup-and-comersâ - which they bloody well should do. Go into the courtyard at Burlington House at the moment ad the first thing you shall see will be the current installation, which looks likeâ¦I dunno⦠WW2 era sea mines crossed with a touch of Scandinavian minimalism and some of the decor from a the Casino Night Zone in Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Anyhow, within this hallowed institution's hallowed courtyard you shall find The Keeper's House. It is called this because it was traditionally the place where the academy's Keeper lived (the current ones doesnât live there though, which seems sad considering itâs full of supercool shit). The Keeper did a lot of stuff (though looking after bees and errant footballs were not included) - I think mainly it comes down to administrative work and âkeepingâ the art collection. Keeping it looking pretty andâ¦educational maybe.

And, within The Keeperâs House is The Shenkman Bar (named after a notable RA architect, I think?). We were invited down to said bar because of a man/cocktail genius/excellent human being named Fabio Fritolli - who I met some months back at the Cichetti bar, and who I now count as a friend. Fabio is a bar consultant - and since this, his current project, was coming to an end, he wanted us to come down and help him see it off in style! All I can say is that everything is SERIOUSLY on fucking point and that Iâd love to know where he gets his ideas from. We're all very much looking forward to Fabio's next project.

Really, $40 for a photo with him? That seems a bit steep.

This volcanically heated hot pool is where one starts their healing mud bath experience. I only got in to my knees and could take no more.

Somebody asked me why Tambomachay´s GIRL ? Really she has a pure and teen spirit !!!

Tambomachay (from Quechua: tanpu mach'ay, resting place) is an archaeological site associated with the Inca Empire, located near Cusco, Peru. An alternate local name is the El Baño del Inca, "The Bath of the Inca".

It consists of a series of aqueducts, canals and waterfalls that run through the terraced rocks. The function of the site is uncertain: it may have served as a military outpost guarding the approaches to Cusco, as a spa resort for the Incan political elite, or both.[1]

In a portico leading up to St Peter's Square. Somehow the opening in front and its view of St Peter's looks as though it could be a trompe l'oeil.

If you love something that is only available in Japanese, and you're just burning to know what it says, this will fuel your passion for learning and help you "stick to it!"

you can slow and fold and mold my mind

really rubbishy photo, but i quite like it.

I bought this glass orb for my hubby's birthday. He really likes art glass. It's called the Tree of Enchantment - Spring. The artist, Stephen Kitras, has an extensive series with all the seasons and different sizes plus other versions. Gorgeous. This orb is about the size of a small grapefruit. Kitras Art Glass

I bought it at The Factory in Franklin.

The shop was Nature's Art. Here's more about the shop:

Decorative items for home and garden in the "nature" theme. Flower fairies, dried flowers, baskets, etc. Fine marquetry tables and mirrors.

I don't think anyone really looks at my stream anymore, but I quit 52 weeks :-( I was tired of doing half-assed shots Saturday night, and I didn't think Dave was into it, and I'd LIKE to think that our life is just so good and full and busy I don't have time for all these great shots so I will leave it at that :-) I will still try to take some of us, though!

+++

We decided to go on a hike today! We haven't been yet this year (I don't REALLY count the short one in the Gorge on the way to PDX airport), and it was about time.

Also, I got this a couple months ago, and only practiced with it ONCE before today, and I am going backcountry camping in like 2 weeks! I need to get my butt in gear! :-)

Our hike was fun, but not as fun as it could be. I own hiking boots, hiking sneakers, and hiking sandals. I prefer the sandals pretty much always. Hate my feet getting hot, hate my feet getting wet/sweaty (yes I have good socks), etc. So I pretty much always wear the sandals. Well that sign was an understatement, by the time we got close to the 1st lake (and our goal was the 2nd) I was KNEE DEEP in snow, and at least before the snow alternated with the dirt, but my toes were turning purple :-( Also, it started raining on our way back and about 5 minutes after we got into the car it was a DOWNPOUR, like serious rain, and heavy thunder and these big, huge, bright, beautiful lighting bolts.

The ongoing love/hate relationship continues.....

A lot of people have a love/hate relationship going on with this girl. Either you love her (she's cute, great fashions, that posable body) or you hate her (that HUGE head, that terrifying smile). She originally started as Barbie 2002, a gorgeous, glamourous beauty and slowly morphed into the ArtsyICanBe...Nikki that we know and love and/or hate today.

So here's to the girl, who we quite don't know how or what to feel about, and yet we buy her all the same. The girl that I call DesireeArtsyICanBe...NikkiBarbie2002. Really?.......

Really cool ORV and climbing park just outside of Gunnison, CO

Really, this photo doesn't do it justice.

explored. may 7, 2007. #486.

Really quick shoot behind the shop.

Really excited about getting the Regigigas

Still black as coal , then zap here it comes...Then back to black..

She was one of the Indian's dancer. The most expressive among the other girls.

Added the blinds and painted over a damaged decal and some glue marks. Quite a fiddly project, but at least it's done now, and it looks somewhat like a Wessex.

Stunning old church in Florence. Santa Maria Novella

Really red. Great color in the sun

Can't even bring myself to tag this one, or, put it into a group. Sigh...

How can she even see where she is going? I think she might be headed to those Jesus Saves mugs....Does Jesus give free haircuts? It is so hard being a teenager.

Are we getting snow tomorrow?

Really?

Really?

I hope not, but I bet he would love it.

Really, you knew there was going to be at least one of these.
