Soft shell, rather than hard shell

There's nothing better than finding a wild raspberry bush when they are ripe.

After making the tiny chocolate cakes, I had a lot of little leftover cake pieces. At first, I was going to stick them in the freezer to use as a crust for something in the future.

Then the boyfriend suggested that I make a trifle as we also had black raspberries from his grandparent's house in need of a good use.

Not to mention, I got this trifle bowl for my birthday and hadn't christened it yet.

So, here you have it. A black raspberry trifle...with Devil's Food Cake and vanilla pastry cream.

Yum. Not too rich because it's not too much chocolate...unilke those baby chocolate cakes. :)

I'm going berry picking next week with work friends...there might be another trifle in the very near future.

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what's the first thing you say to yourself?”

“What's for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”

“I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully.

“It's the same thing,” he said.

A raspberry cigarette, but it extremely smells like a strawberry.

I dont know why, maybe i've lost my heart to the great strawberry, or maybe, berries are brothers and sisters. But, I mean, they really dont look the same from the outside.

I chogh and breath, breath and chogh, it still cant let me forget the strawberry smell, lasting strongly.

It floating, surrounded... I am infatuated with that such a big great stuff,

This fella was laying on the grass, totally chilled ... no work today .... and continually blowing raspberries. Maybe to himself .. a bit like us humming ... or more likely to the visitors.

Our destination is the fire lookout that is the little white dot on top of the highest point. (view at full size) A lovely day for a moderate hike - about 11 Km return and 640 meters max ascent.

I planted ten canes this spring (I should have planted them earlier in the winter) and this is pretty much it for our harvest this year.

Fresh local raspberries bought from Marino's fruit stand south of Canby, Oregon. As a diabetic with a sweet tooth, I put two packets of Equal on them and a mixture of about 3/4 light cream and 1/4 1% milk. They were delicious! Even my cat Silver was entranced by the cream smell and came onto my lap while I was eating them, although he was a good boy and let me eat them unbothered. ;-)
