Garden Grub 89/120

This is what passes for a raspberry bumper crop at Maple Hoo. We hoped the many canes we planted the spring after moving in would set up as a massive thicket of awesomeness, but instead it's been a dainty, demure, lightly-producing disappointment. We'll have to plant more next year.

Raspberries on a spoon

Another batch of very yummy swiss meringue buttercream but this time flavoured with cruched raspberries... YUM!

Lessons: Fruits and Veggies are hard to find perfect. One must look closely at the subject while arranging and try to arrange to hide imperfections for that perfect shot.

Loving the Natural Light thing (mostly).

Soo good- Rhubarb and raspberries, vegan custard poured on top, and sprinkled with oatmeal, hazelnuts and pulverized raw sugar.

Immensely satisfying.

A cheap pavlova bought from Iceland (classy!) for an early xmas meal with friends.

Just a few pictures of things I picked from my garden today - I haven't learned to use flash in photographs yet, so was pleased that these came out so well (in my eyes)

Nothing's better to have a garden with all these tasteful fruits!

Raspberry plant with ripe fruit at Bitterroot experimental station.

My dad's only foray into gardening in my parent's backyard has been to spread blackberries all around it near the fences. They have a tendency of doing much better than my mother's plants.

with cream cheese frosting and raspberries . Had a baking session with my sister to make some cupcakes and stuff for mothering sunday.

This is an especially good year for raspberries.

These nice berries grew unannounced in the backyard.

Raspberry Ice is very distinguishable by the colouring of its flowers, creamy white with an attractive raspberry pink edge. The blooms are produced in clusters and contrast well with the dark green foliage. When in full bloom, it is a very eye-catching sight in the garden and also performs well inside in a vase.

The plant is a taller grower in the garden, reaching around 1.5m so it may be best placed at the back of the rose garden or among other plantings. It is generally healthy but can be slow to repeat bloom later on in the season.

I think the red channel on the camera got blown out a bit. I even desaturated it a little in post processing. We bought three of these baskets and are they amazing.

Used Pomona's Universal Pectin (my new favorite thing).

Also, among my new favorite things are my jar labels. I found 2" round labels at OnlineLabels.com and then I've been using my large collection of fonts and Dover Clip Art CDs to make labels individualized for each batch of stuff.

the problem with waiting for this late crop to ripen is to not yield to temptation and try a couple each time I pass :)
