Sunday is cake day (among others) and to have a cake on the weekend I bake it Friday and hope it will survive until Sunday.

Anyway this is a Flan Breton of a different kind. Haven't tasted it yet but if it tastes like it looks I think it will be alright.

Have a most wonderful weekend you all!

Raspberries in the scooter bed. Been quite a good harvest already this year.

To make it a better photo I should have removed the old stump in the middle there.

I visited the Corvallis Farmers Market this morning where I met fellow flickr-ite, Tideswimmer. The lighting wasn't too good, but I still had a nice time. I did manage to get a few shots in...

I was surprised to to see raspberries this late in the year. They were gorgeous, though... as if they were fresh from the warm June crop.

Just picked these down the street and decided to record their beauty before eating or freezing them. Don't you just want to kiss them?

The raspberry vines have migrated to where the tomatoes grew last year. Plenty of good soil gave very high and strong vines.

Buttermilk cake with fresh strawberries, raspberries, tangy whipped creme fraiche, and homemade balsamic raspberry jam. I made this for a belated birthday celebration with Little Brother. I made something very similar almost exactly a year ago.

Umm, strawberry shortcake is easily the most photogenic dessert to shoot.

Buttermilk cake recipe from Flo Braker's Baking for All Occasions. I wrote about the balsamic raspberry jam previously. The rest was just made up on the spot. Get the recipe at Dessert By Candy.

Some raspberries I grew in a container on my deck.

My favorite berry ever!!

How do you tell the difference between a blackberry and black raspberry? The most obvious difference is that a black raspberry is hollow -- the core of the fruit stays on the plant when it is picked, while the core stays in a blackberry. Black raspberry fruit are also smaller, less shiny. and have a bluish waxy coating between the sections of the berry.
