Ramsgate on an unknown date in 1958. Wainwright C Class 0-6-0 31592 looks to be on a local passenger service.

The loco was new from the Longhedge Works in Battersea to the SECR in 1902 as 592. She became 1592 under the Southern and then 31592 under BR. A Ramsgate loco at this time she was withdrawn from in July 1963 and now resides at the Bluebell Railway where we have ridden behind her a few times.

A note about the Ken Green,

Kent and Essex sea fisheries committee has 7 warranted fishery officers who patrol throughout the district. Inspections carried out by fishery officers take place both at sea and on shore, day and night. To enable inspections at sea, the Committee owns two vessels which are specifically designed for the purpose the ‘Ken Green’ and the ‘KES’.

The Kent and Essex SFC patrol boat the ‘Ken Green’ is based in Ramsgate and has a crew of 4. The vessel came into service in 2000 and is a 16m fast patrol vessel. The ‘Ken Green’ covers the whole of the district and carries a RIB which can be launched from its ramp in various sea conditions to undertake boarding’s at sea.

Albion Hill, Ramsgate, Kent, 5 September 2020.

Ramsgate station, Kent, 4 September 2020. Ramsgate Town station was opened by the SER in 1846 and Ramsgate Harbour station was opened in 1863 by the Kent Coast Railway (later part of the LCDR); both were termini and unconnected with each other. Surprisingly, even when the SER and LCDR formed the SECR in 1899 and planned to improve this situation, it was left to their successor, the Southern Railway, to build a new link line between the SER and LCDR routes on which was built a new Ramsgate station in 1926, the two earlier stations being closed. The architects of the new station were James Robb Scott and Edwin Maxwell Fry, modernist architects, who built the station in New Classical style with an Egyptian theme. Discoveries in the Valley of the Kings had been made recently. Pictured is the frontage.

Mostly distant but popped up close by for several seconds. It then left the harbour and went to have a look around the ferry terminal.
