Gotta love old steel wheeled equipment. I've got an old Farmall Regular that I'm currently rebuilding the engine in that will go great with this rake.
Notice the scratches on the dolphin? These are normally made by other dolphins to show dominance within a pod. The dolphin with the least amount of scratches is the alpha male.
In celebration of Earth Day, New York City Audubon held a special TogetherGreen Volunteer Day event at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. Volunteers from Audubon and Toyota came out and worked hard to improve the park by repainting benches and walls, planting and mulching native plants, and building bird feeders! All in all, it was a fantastic day and a great effort by Audubon and Toyota alike.
The mighty 48s roll their empty Manildra grain rake towards Tottenham. It is always a visible and audible feast seeing the 48s in action and I hope this scene is repeated many many times yet. Though misty eyed hope may not match a reality of a depleted harvest, already taken to mill, and an upcoming change of operator.
It may mean a generation of rail activity could pass into an illustrious history. Not unlike those who witnessed the passing of steam, I find it harder to to be enthused by fairly generic locomotives varied seemingly only by colour of their livery, than their shape, sound and history.
As long as rail progresses to a better future that is to the betterment of the economy. After all this is a business and not a tourist venture.

February 24: I brought this rake out to my Carmel Valley place a while back because the acorn situation on my deck had gotten out of hand--but then I found that my landlord had already hosed the deck off! So the rake has been standing idle. Today I was just struck by, well, how it looks, plain and simple. Nothing fancier than that. Unadorned functionality, in red.
