The mighty 48s roll their empty Manildra grain rake towards Tottenham. It is always a visible and audible feast seeing the 48s in action and I hope this scene is repeated many many times yet. Though misty eyed hope may not match a reality of a depleted harvest, already taken to mill, and an upcoming change of operator.
It may mean a generation of rail activity could pass into an illustrious history. Not unlike those who witnessed the passing of steam, I find it harder to to be enthused by fairly generic locomotives varied seemingly only by colour of their livery, than their shape, sound and history.
As long as rail progresses to a better future that is to the betterment of the economy. After all this is a business and not a tourist venture.
