A pair of SD40Ns lead LTZ56 across the 183ft high bridge over the Des Moines river. This former CGW structure is quite impressive, and luckily still sees a few trains a day, albeit mostly at night.
Photocharter hosted by Italia on Rails to salute ligurian coastal line, to be closed on next 1st November - S.Lorenzo coast
Saw this sunrise as I finished my late dog walk this morning, so I pushed the dogs into the front porch, grabbed a camera and headed off to take the only open view close to home, the metro line! Well I’ve taken this shot before and it has compositional elements I like. Leading lines, shiny surfaces to reflect the light and a hint of danger, my sort of photography. Oh yes when I got home again Toby and Oscar were still waiting in the porch still wearing their winter coats, collar and lead, poor things.
The rails caught all the light ... just for a minute or so. First shot of the session, imperfect, but love it. And I have a sweet spot for the old, crooked telegraph poles.
During the past couple of weeks, there have been many transports of long rails from Chorzów (Kościuszko steelworks/rolling mill) to Somonino and Gdańsk Osowa on the old coal mainline. I have never had the time to catch one of them in action, until one recent evening
S200-273 in the Soviet-style livery and SM42-2108 were tasked with hauling the TMS 454029 from Chorzów Stary to Gdańsk Osowa. With S273 breaking down constantly on the way, it was the SM42 that did all the heavy lifting. Despite this, the train had arrived in Gdańsk Osowa without difficulties, even with heavy passenger traffic in the rush hours.
The train coming in to Gdańsk Osowa way after sunset was a great opportunity to test a new lens, which I borrowed from Jarek for the time being. Here the first picture I took with it shows the train at arrival in Gdańsk Osowa, with S273 already being half-dead.

Mass Coastal 2011 (ex-NH FL9M) is paused near Keene Street in Bourne, MA waiting for the bridge over the Cape Cod Canal to lower. An eastbound Coast Guard ship passes by the train on the Canal. The Bourne Bridge is seen in the background.

Railway material photographed in foggy weather in the station of Mouscron circa 1980.

Ex-BNSF Dash 9's dressed in G&W's corporate paint scheme lead MNA train KCMNA-10 through Rock Creek JCT off the KCT and onto Main Track 1 of the UP Sedalia Sub, starting up Independence Hill with a short train out of UP's Neff Yard. The train will be back on home rails at Pleasant Hill, MO, and this crew will take it as far as Harrisonville, though the train itself is bound for MNA's Pearl Yard in Carthage.
Dash 9's are the norm now on MNA's five day a week Kansas City train. Within the past couple of years, GE's have infiltrated the MNA, a once exclusive EMD railroad like other G&W properties. I really miss hearing turborcharged EMD 645's roaring as they take on the hills through Independence and Lee's Summit. 1/10/25.

Two Sundays ago two engineering trains were due out of the Rotherham area around 08:00. I checked Masborough and this was waiting time under Midland Road bridge. The next start point was Aldwarke Junction, but when I arrived there nothing was to be seen. I headed here to Kilnhurst only to see the GBRF shed pass overhead around 20 minutes early. I waited a further three minutes and this followed from Masborough to Belmont hot on its heels.
Bnsf 7584 leads the H-GALMEM west out of Foley Mo. A cold morning indeed with temps around zero at this time. This would be 1 of 2 west in a row on this morning. Bnsf Hannibal Sub 2021.
A long mellow hike from Lunenberg to Mahone Bay offered some pretty scenes. This is my altered reality of the view along the trail.

Nella calda luce del pomeriggio, due ALn 668.1600 percorrono per l’ultima volta la vecchia linea tra Roccapalumba e Lercara, come treno fotografico organizzato dall’associazione Italia on Rails.
I didn't think that Water Rails eat fish but this one does. Any information on this would be gratefully received.
IC 1005 south is leading the daily Memphis to Mobile CN train over the Pascagoula River as they approach Cloy siding on the Beaumont subdivision. The deathstar was a great leader on home rails this day... Knocking off yet another item on the list down here.
I realize this is a bit random, but sometimes I just like to capture railroad tracks out in the middle of nowhere! This is just out of the edge of Orting in the little township of McMillin, Washington. Hope you enjoy my randomness! :)

Asked an astrometry friend what is beyond the stars and was informed more stars, then asked again what is beyond the stars and was told another galaxy with more stars. This mind could not comprehend another galaxy with more stars so stated that is just more stars but what is beyond the stars, his answer was infinity with more stars. This mind cannot comprehend endlessness but at least there are rails to it and that is comprehensible.
