LOL Rails in my handwriting is not pleasant to read!!
This is some of the refactoring work that i did on MyChores over the weekend!
i'm hopping a train tomorrow. maybe that's why i was inspired to put up more train photos. these two are for the ongoing utata trains project.

A turnout on an abandoned set of rails in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The view is looking east along Thames St., with Fells St. running off to the right.

The old railway that delivered cedar wood from the mountains to the coast on Yakushima Island. Logging was discontinued in 1970.
This is one of my first Holga shots. I wasn't aware of what a light hog the Holga is, so this is one of the few on that roll of 160 ASA film that didn't come out a little too dark.
These are all old rails, much lighter weight than what mainline roads use currently. Some of them bear the name of Carnegie Steel. Someone decided that the "natural" pond at Tanner Springs Park should have an edge made up of these rusty relics of the age of Harriman and Hill.
as luck would have it, the local rails to trails fundraiser was today, on the first day of the tour de fleece.
the boys unloaded the kayaks from the truck and loaded our bikes this morning and we headed out to ride the trail together with a handful of friends, riding and walking.

In Nicetown section.searching for window pair with shutters, had to navigate the yard surrounding the building below, which was full of these old rails.

Sharing the Rails

Providence, Rhode Island
While driving down South Main Street in Providence, I spotted this Providence & Worcester freight train idling before the station tunnel. The only reason they would do that is to wait for either Amtrak or MBTA to pass them, since there are large stretches south of the station where there's no room to pass. That was my cue to wait for a photo. It was about a ten minute wait, but I was rewarded with this shot of the Amtrak passenger train bound for New York City passing the idling freight train. Unfortunately, I thought that would be it so I returned to my car. Only then did I hear a second whistle as the Acela - Amtrak's high speed passenger train - also went past the freight. Had I only known the Acela was coming, I'd have waited since that's a much more photogenic train.
I tried this shot in black and white, but it simply didn't work so I had to stick to the color version. Post processing started with a brilliant cold filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, regions, and protect highlights. A slight levels adjustment was added in PSE.
