#27/100 of my 100 strangers.
No, I am not the Easter Bunny. However, I am one of his helpers. I am what you call "part time seasonal help." Most of my duties are rather mundane, taking care of the behind the scene logistics. For the last two weeks I have been spending about twelve hours a day boiling eggs so that kids can decorate them. This weekend I will be hiding eggs for several different Easter Egg Hunts. After that there is a couple of days of clean up, mainly picking up all the fake green grass that comes in Easter Baskets and accounting for all the eggs that were not found in the Easter Egg hunts. The Easter Bunny calls that the "No Egg Left Behind" initiative. It is a new policy he rolled out this year.
The extra cash is nice, but I don't care much for the uniform. The ears are bad enough, but the pink fuzzy tail is just too much.

Heading back from the mine, I took one last look at the Mine House and the Rabbit Ears.
I'm not sure what the miners did for entertainment but staring at the gorgeous, dynamic view would not be a terrible past time.
This came out a little different from what I wanted. I need to work on my lighting. Also tried the 10-second run here. This was way cuter in my head. lol
So much drama this week. I would be so happy when everything finally gets resolved.

Happy Memorial Day to my fellow Americans. Pause to reflect on all those who have sacrified for us.
Memorial Weekend officially starts the summer in the U.S., and that means all the "seasonal" attractions are open until Labor Day. For me, the one thing that I most look forward to are the swimming areas in lakes opening. I don't like swimming in a pool and I'm scared of being in the ocean, so when I want to go for a swim, I go to a lake.
This picture here was taken at one such place: the Fair Play beach on Hartwell Lake off of I-85.
So what's with the bunny ears, crotch grab and banana peel in the air? Well, today's theme in The Rogue Players is to copy Kaptain Kobold. It was my idea since KK gave me a 2nd day in TRP to help fill up the month's list. I went all the way back to last April for my inspiration today. :)
This was a LOT of work, so I hope the Kaptain appreciates it. For starters, it was a rainy morning, and since it was raining, I brought my secondary camera (the Kodak) so the Canon wouldn't get messed up. I drove 45 minutes in steady rain, and when I arrived at the beach, it was still raining, so I just waited it out underneath a picnic shelter. Eventually I got tired of waiting and just planned on doing my picture under an umbrella... but my camera broke!! The battery door was cracked when I got it and that crack finally gave in and completely fell apart. So I had to drive 45 minutes back home, in the rain, get my Canon, and drive 45 minutes back to Fair Play (yes, in the rain). When I got back, there was a break in the rain, so I quickly set up and took a few takes before it started to rain again (and I was lucky that I had my umbrella already open and the Canon wasn't messed up as I made a run for it). I did a little tweaking with the coloring since it was all cloudy and icky. But I got it done. haha =)
Today starts 100 Days of Summer, a group I found last week while searching for any "summer 2010" groups to join. 1 down, 99 to go! :D

Yes, this is Sam, our little Chihuahua.
He's smiling at you !!!!!!
I love his little "snaggle tooth" :)
To the left I believe are the Organ Mountains' Rabbit Ears peak (elev: 2440 m), a rock formation that looks like, well, the ears of a rabbit.

It happens to make a good christmas ornament as well...
These retro radios join an old-school voltage regular and potted rotary phone in the 1970 Khz pop culture exhibit's 'electronics' store. The old radios are available 'in the wild' at the flea market but the pricing is modern "e-bay" style. ;-)
Some of the abandoned equipment at the Hayner Ruby Mine.
The Raging Main says that the A frame on the left was used to lift mine cars from a vertical shaft, whose contents would be emptied into the hopper on the right.
The Organ Mountains' Rabbit Ears are nearby.

I am so happy I discovered the Flickr Doll Community. I was just thinking yesterday while shooting photos, I honestly don't remember how I discovered you all, or what made me come to Flickr. But I am so happy I did it! :D

After losing a number of lens caps I finally discovered a new use for the aperture prongs (rabbit ears) on the Ais lenses.
The hat elastic does obscure the aperture display in the viewfinder to some extent, depending on the aperture. But, generally I know what aperture I am choosing before I make a shot or check on the lens barrel anyhow, so this does not matter that much to me. It beats buying lens caps. The Nikon lens caps were expensive but 'hey', this is Nikon and we love Nikon here!
I also bought a number of no-brand name lens caps, made in China. They were a lot cheaper, not quite as good (softer mechanism) and came with an eyelet and quite a long piece of string to attach the lens cap to the camera or around the wrist.
