The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with edible multiple fruit consisting of coalesced berries, and the most economically significant plant in the Bromeliaceae family. Pineapples may be cultivated from a crown cutting of the fruit, possibly flowering in 20–24 months and fruiting in the following six months. Pineapple does not ripen significantly post-harvest.

There's no sound in the wood but for the rustle of the leaves in the breeze, the song of birds... but a fierce battle cry is the last thing an interloper would hear.

We start the second and final week of Fantasy Faire 2021! The events are done, and now it's just shopping and dancing and enjoying. It's a more relaxed feeling at the Faire this week, but for the frantic dash to hit all the stores before the Faire closes!

I found this wonderful viking tunic and boots from R3D Studio. The two pieces are sold separately, but certainly work wonderfully well together. The Einar tunic is sized for Maitreya/Legacy/Perky/Hourglass/Venus bodies, and comes in a whole bunch of different colours. The Runar boots are sized for Maitreya, Legacy, Slink and Belleza, and come in black, brown, and Beige. I added some lovely leggings from Silvan Moon Design's Daughter of Olaf outfit. You can find Silvan Moon Designs at Tempest Bay at the Fairegrounds.

My other pieces are from prior events, but nearly all are available at the Faire. I picked up my Bow of Galadhrim from Unity Maxim at the Faire last year, but you can find it at the Faire in the Amethyst Rift now.. Likewise, Mizu's Raider Hatchet is featured at Somniatoris Arx.

There's still a week left to enjoy the Faire! Come and explore! Shop! And support Relay for Life's fight against Cancer!

Aloha! A hui hou kākou!

Partially peeled ripe banana on a wooden cutting board in a brown background.

A banana is an edible fruit, botanically a berry, produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa. (In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.) The fruit is variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant. Almost all modern edible parthenocarpic (seedless) bananas come from two wild species – Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana.

A black and white look down the base of the Tower building at the glass and stilts of One East Avenue in Rochester, NY.

One East Avenue, built in 1962, was originally constructed for the Security Trust Company. This striking example of 1960s architecture consists of a two-story glass-enclosed public banking facility, an adjoining 11-story tower, and an outdoor plaza. The public banking facility is notable for its imaginative roofline, glass walls, and Rochester artist John Menihan’s 130-foot-long mural, a symbolic tribute to the diversification of Monroe County’s economy. The Tower building, resting on stilts, is notable for its band of quartz aggregate and gray-tinted glass. The regional administrative offices of Bank of America occupy roughly half the building, including a branch and ATM on the ground floor.

Fresh whole and half avocado fruit on a brown background.

The avocado (Persea americana) is a tree native to Mexico and Central America, classified in the flowering plant family Lauraceae along with cinnamon, camphor and bay laurel. Avocado or alligator pear also refers to the fruit, botanically a large berry that contains a single seed.

Avocados are commercially valuable and are cultivated in tropical and Mediterranean climates throughout the world. They have a green-skinned, fleshy body that may be pear-shaped, egg-shaped, or spherical. Commercially, they ripen after harvesting. Trees are partially self-pollinating and often are propagated through grafting to maintain a predictable quality and quantity of the fruit.
