Made this for Tommy Williamson's Bricknerd Nerdvember contest.Basically tried to comicly adapt this really cool Gentle Giant statue i love, only slightly more nerdified, but then the r2 body came out so clean i had to make it a real r2 head to do him justice. might take a more serious stab at leia too when i have time

Quite like this angle, you can see right into the engines with those black tires disguising the white behind. Also evident is the cockpit which is now at a slightly steeper angle as suggested. It definitely looks closer to how it should now, particularly with the cheese slopes behind which smooth off the shape.

I think this is a particular and original reinterpretation of little R2D2.

In the previous photo I mentioned that a scene from Star Wars was filmed nearby. Here's that spot. This is where, in the first movie, Episode IV, R2D2 gets into some trouble and eventually gets zapped by the Jawas.

I stitched up this little fella the other night for a nerdy friend's birthday present. I felt that my earlier r2d2 design needed a lot of tweaking - this still isn't perfect, but it's getting there.

on the last little scrap of my 18 ct. light blue aida. and that's a little seed bead sewn on for his eye-thingy. (I'm contemplating exploring a more multi-media approach to my needlework.) the frame was a serendipitous thrift store score.
