All the fun of the WFC Xmas Flickr Social
I'm not sure what you'd call it... stopmotion, time lapse... It's not quite video and they can't be viewed as stills but the effect puts me in mind of an old cine movie played at the wrong speed on a clapped out projector.
Little vignettes of time, snatched moments, a digital flick book if you like..
In reality, 2788 stills shot on the 50mm @ f/1.8 1600 ISO in high speed burst mode, Large JPEG (just filling an 8GB Card!!). Combined as an image sequence in Quicktime and cut in Final Cut Pro.
Music is Jynweythek Ylow by Aphex Twin.
Please wait for it to finish streaming before watching to prevent yukky buffering...
Below are a few of the still images...

When I saw Steve Jobs demoing the iPad at the ominous Apple Keynote I asked myself: Isn't it just a big iPod touch? That time my answer to the question was "yes, it is, nothing more". Now, that I have seen the device, touched it, and used it, I can state that software-wise it might be "just a fat iPod touch", but when you start using it, it is certainly much more.
I don't know how it could fit into my life, and I surely don't need one… but I want one. :)
another from curl curl headland looking south...250 images shot from a gigapan and stitched together in quicktime...still a bit to play with to get it right, but a good start...
the conversion by flickr has made it a little jerky...have to work on that methinks
I was importing flickr favorites pictures into iPhoto, thought it was quite beautiful watching them unfolding. (Also maybe cause I do find my favorites amazing, every one of them, that's why they're favorites hah). So there's nearly a thousand flickr favorites photographs loading here, took less than two minutes. The music is "4 Chords" by Barney Freeman & Ben Vella

This panorama is made up of about 8 individual photos taken with a disposable camera, scanned and photoshopped together. The resulting image of the 2003 Anzac Day match between Essendon and Collingwood features a number of key moments including the game ball being delivered by helicopter, both teams running through their respective banners, and both teams standing in the centre of the gound for the Final Post.
A QuickTime VR of this panorama can be found here.
I've been waiting for a windy day for ages to give this a go. Taken from approx 300 shots, 1 every 5s and animated using Quicktime Pro.
I can see why that little tree looks so windswept now...

My first attempt at a timelapse. Didn't have time for a nice long sunset as planned so instead set it up for my haircut. Not come out as well as I planned. Perhaps would've been better if i'd had a more drastic cut!
Took a photo every 2 seconds and edited together in Quicktime Pro.

1419 consecutive 640 x 480 pixel stills (taken with my Fujifilm E900 and put together in Adobe Quicktime at 25 frames a second, resulting in a 150mb .mov file, too big for Flickr so I converted to a 40mb .avi file with a free video converter) during a 'healthy' stroll around my local streets - I'm on a bit of a fitness regime and this is my usual hour long daily exercise.
Looks a bit jumpy but I don't mind that. 1 frame every 4-6 paces, thought about adding some music, maybe 'flight of the bumble bee' !
And now for something completely different.
This was a fun project. Over the weekend it occurred to me that you could use Brushes to make a movie that tells a story. This is my first attempt. Each sequence was done in a separate Brushes file and edited together with Quicktime Pro. I edited the soundtrack in Audacity (8 tracks mixed down to mono, 44.1 khz, 32 bit).

Artist's Notes: what I've learned so far.
1) Brushes Viewer Movie settings - 1X 480x320, H.264, High Quality, 10 fps
2) Each brush stroke is a frame.
3) You can un-do. Mistakes will not show in the movie.
4) Pauses are made by doing strokes of background color on the background. 10 strokes = 1 second
5) Fades to black, white, or a color can be done with Fills with color set to low transparency. Do 10 Fills to achieve a 1 second fade.
6) You can achieve basic motion by drawing one stroke, adding in the next stroke and erasing using the background color in the next stroke. Repeat this cycle.
7) Wipes can be done with successive brush stroke across the page. You can do circle wipes and barn door wipes as well as standard left, right, up, down wipes.
8) Titles can be done 1 stroke at a time to spell the words or use cursive to pop a word at a time.
9) Edit sequences together in Quicktime Pro. Copy/Paste inserts the sequence at the playback head's position. Copy/Add to Movie replaces a piece of the movie with the new material or if the playback head is at the end of the movie, the new material will be added to the end.

Stitched together using an old copy of Adobe Illustrator running on the iBook I took on the trip. The photos were taken using my old Sony CLIÉ PEG-NR70, which had a crude-but-fun camera that could also do low-res Quicktime video. Too bad it stopped working.

This is raw 4K Sony FDR footage. Color has not been tweaked. What you see is what you get. This is a 4K Quicktime. Looks good! This camera gives you the option to dual record in 4K. It creates a 4K file and a 720 file. The reason for this is because 4K is going to be a beast for most machines. It is not soccer mom ready. Again very clunky editing in FCPX. 16G of memory is not cutting it, at least on my machine. Going to do some 1080 tests on this next.
