Snow Storm Time Lapse

This was a last minute experiment that worked fairly well. I grabbed a TC-80N3 remote that I have from work and hooked it up to my Canon 30D. It took one photo every 2 minutes and 20 seconds for nine hours during the snow storm.
I ended up changing locations about mid way through because of water droplets on the window obscuring the pictures.
You'll notice a Cookie Monster cookie jar in the foreground wearing a santa hat. I thought that would make the foreground a bit more interesting.

Time is marked at the top, running from morning at the left to evening at the right. When the blue eggs are visible in the vertical stripes, the mother bird was out of the nest. Looks like she took a long lunch around 11:40-noon. It got dark out by around 7pm.
The video used to make this was taken on a webcam mounted just above the nest.
This kymograph was made using ImageJ, a free, open-source program. To try making a kymograph, download ImageJ, then open a quicktime in ImageJ by clicking file>import>using quicktime, draw a line, and click image>stacks>reslice.

A timelapse of the gift opening extravaganza at my parent's house this year. It was lots of fun having my brother, his wife, and my niece and nephew at the house for Christmas morning along with my parents and Stella and I. Hopefully that crowd helps the incredible pile of presents seem slightly more reasonable :)
I used an app called Still Motion (which isn't very good) on my iPhone to take pictures every 5 seconds, and then put them all together in Quicktime Pro at 15 frames / second. The Glif tripod mount for iPhone is awesome.

1) Attach the three CineSkates to the GorillaPod Focus and position the legs and wheels for your shot
2) Line up the wheel bracket slot with the "0" mark on the wheel
3) Use your camera timer or an intervalometer to take a photo at increments of 10 seconds or more (adjust this time for the shot, and make sure to give yourself time to move the wheel)
4) Move the CineSkates your desired amount. For example; from the "0" to the "1" mark (1 centimeter)
5) Repeat the same distance move between each timed photo
You will end up with a consecutive sequence of JPG photos.
turning your photos into a video
1) Put the entire sequence of JPGs into a folder and give it a name
2) Open QuickTime 7. Note: QuickTime 10 does not do this, follow the link to get QuickTime 7.
3) In QuickTime 7, go to File > Open Image Sequence
4) Select the first image in your image sequence and click "Open"
5) Select a frame rate. Example: "24 frames per second"
6) Go to File > Export
7) Choose your Export setting. Example: "Movie to MPEG-4"
8) Save it!
