Question and Answer session at the World Investment Forum IPA preparation workshop hosted by The Hub

This is simply to answer an acquaintance's question as to who is my favorite Star Wars character.

(The reason they're all in the box is I'm using this as an example for my Cub Scouts as what a "collection" might look like.)

Castilleja nana, "C. lapidicola" form, Site 3, vicinity of White Mountains Rd., in dolomite barrens NE of Sheep Mountain, White Mountains, Mono Co., CA, 21 Jul 2019. The elevation at this site is about 11,800'.

Another Castilleja question I was exploring in the White Mts. is the relationship between this little known but fairly widespread form of C. nana, originally described as a separate species, C. lapidicola, but reduced to synonymy under the earlier C. nana in the Intermountain Flora (1984). However, the plants of this form rarely if ever are found in the same population, and the lapidicola form usually occurs at even higher elevations, and, at least in the Whites, and on different substrates. The pale or "true" C. nana and the nana-pilosa intergrades occur at around 10,500-11,000' (from what I saw), while the pictured plants are from a population at nearly 12,000'. I saw no evidence of mixing of these forms in either population, though surely our sample size was small, in just one day.

This very harsh, high albido site with medium and fine-grained dolomite gravel, supported only a handful of low alpine species, and Castilleja nana lapidicola was by far the most common species, giving a reddish-purple hue to the mostly uniform, white landscape. The scarcity of other plants made determination of the likely host plants much easier than usual, and, as with most Castillejas, a variety of species appear to be utilized as hosts.

You who were with me in the ships at Mylae! [Tu che eri con me sulle navi a Mylae!] / That corpse you planted last year in your garden, [Quel cadavere che l’anno scorso hai piantato nel tuo giardino,] / Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year? [Ha cominciato a germogliare? Fiorirà quest’anno?]

The invitation of the "Teatro dei Venti" arrives on time, during a period of research focused on the act of disappearing, the disillusionment, the cancellation of every trace of humanity, up to its extinction.

These are the questions we want to share during this precious encounter with those whose body is marked, highlighted, by the passage to never.

We will not do so by questioning the intimate and subjective dimension, but the political one: the extinct political-body; the process of corruption of the dead body, as a metaphor for a defective civilisation.

It is in the transition to no longer than our presence becomes inevitably political when the body is no longer tied to an identity, but becomes an object, a waste, an rest to take charge. Someone will have to handle our corpse, whose weight will be directly proportional to the memory it carries with it. Is it not then, this becoming a "waste", a subversive act?

The poems “Waste Land” by T. S. Eliot guide us in this consideration.

An "unreal city", a "Paese Guasto" (as the poet Caproni calls it, following the suggestion of Dante), which Eliot sings through the prophetic voice of Tiresias:

You who were with me in the ships at Mylae!

That corpse you planted last year in your garden,

Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year?

Question is, the decay of what?

The tide was coming in in the morning and all these holes in the shore started bubbling. Was it just water draining out of the sand creating space where air could fill in? Was it some type of animal's home that dug all night only to be drowned in the morning? What ever it was it was freaky when all the sudden you hear gurgle gurgle.

Think this is a Question Mark (thank you Dreamscapepics) butterfly. Always a good sign of spring when the butterflies start to flitter around. I was really happy the way this guy posed for me.

My FMP questioned and explored the role of the performer and the relationship between their true self and the persona they portray on stage. Main points of reference were Cindy Sherman, Lady Gaga, Leigh Bowery and the documentary Paris is burning. Through primary research which included self portraits and video pieces I conceived the final outcomes as the construction of three characters upon which the garments are based.

I think it's a Polygonia interrogationis.
