I put this birdhouse on my front porch as a decoration, never thinking birds would actually use it ... but now we have a family of birds living in there :)

More evidence of why GPS or Google directions are not always reliable. My daughter certainly isn't the only one to get bad directions. I often hear callers at work tell me that they put the address for one of the animal shelters in their GPS and were directed to a cotton field.

Fans gathered Friday night at a Mixer put on by the Central Ohio Chapter and the Penn State Alumni Association that raised money for the Chapter’s Scholarship Fund, as well as providing lots of family fun.

Humans have put spatterdock to many uses. Historically many cultures ate the roots cooked fresh in stews or dried and ground into flour for baking. The seeds were gathered by Native Americans and either ground into flour or popped like popcorn. The leaves and roots also contain tannin which was put to use in dyeing and tanning. Medicinally, the leaves were used to stop bleeding, and roots were used in a poultice for cuts, swelling, and other ailments. The Quinault Tribe believed that some of the roots looked like men, and others like women, so they chose a root appropriate for the patient before using it as a pain remedy. Most recently spatterdock has been used as an aquarium and water garden plant.
I put together a full page ad my 2 etsy shops and 7 other volunteers. This is for a couple of swim team heat sheets. I had to contribute some fundraising money so I thought I might as well put a full page ad together.
Al puts a lot of meticulous work and research into his models. I love that the vertical exhaust stacks on this B.E.2 are functional.

Het thema van GLOW, ‘Stad in beweging’ wordt met Figures that wander heel letterlijk genomen: mensen verblijven er, lopen rond en gaan weer verder.

Spc. Ryan Munsey, a track vehicle mechanic with the Maine Army National Guard’s Forward Support Company, 133rd Engineer Battalion repairs the engine of a M133 Troop Carrier as part of the company’s annual training at Camp Dodge, Iowa September 9-22, 2017. The Forward Support Company travelled to Camp Dodge to utilize specific training opportunities available there designed for the skill sets of maintenance specialties. “The track mechanics are able to pull the engine out, do a service on it and put it back in. That’s something we haven’t done back home in a long time,” said Sgt.1st Class David Lane, the maintenance platoon sergeant.“ A lot of these vehicle repairs can’t be done during a two-day drill weekend, because some of them may take up to a week.”
SAM put together an incredible event for kids to celebrate "Earth Day", and invited me to join in! Worm bins, scavenger hunts, Tesla coils, recycled art projects, eco-gaming, walking school buses, and free organic trail mix all made for a big crowd and engaged crocheters. Several of the people I worked with were just in the park that day, and were just drawn to all the crazy fun ( the hair raising Tesla coil!) It also continues to be my great pleasure to teach really young children to crochet, as well as work with families making together!
