High upon a promontory on South Bass Island in Lake Erie at Put-in-Bay, Ohio, sits the Owners and Captains Quarters of the former Great Lakes Shipping Boat, The Benson Ford. The boat was built by Henry Ford and named after his grandson many years ago. After fifty years of service on the Great Lakes, the Benson Ford was scheduled in 1986 to be scrapped at the Port of Cleveland, Ohio. On the top front section of the boat were the walnut paneled state rooms, dining room, galley, and passenger lounge designed by Henry Ford for his own pleasure while traversing the Great Lakes on business. This is when an Ohio husband and wife stepped in realizing that these elegant quarters would be a magnificent residence, if they could only be removed from the rest of the ship and brought to land. After many days with torches and cranes, the Quarters were removed from the ship and floated by barge some sixty miles west to the tranquil island of South Bass Island. Additional cranes were needed to lift the Quarters off the barge at the Island up a steep eighteen foot promontory to its final site on solid bedrock on a single family home lot. The Quarters became The Ship Residence, a private home on South Bass Island.

This is one of my favorite drawings from recently. Heh, I call it "Hello from the Coast"
Yesterday we had a rough morning with Tanner, he and I clashed badly and I handled it badly- I felt bad all day because I lost my temper, not because he didn't deserve my wrath but I don't like to lose it with him. However, today he was a different child and was on good behavior before school. Hmmm.....
Anyway, I did my workout but never felt very well all day and today I'm a bit puny so I'm not going to the Y but just taking a walk with Paul this morning. After that I will enjoy being home until soccer practice. I've been printing out the best pictures of the last 6 years so we will have hard copies and I can eventually put them into albums, it sure is fun to look back and have all those memories. I've run out of photo paper and ink so I'm delayed today unless I want to spend the time and gas to run a about a 30 mile trip. I think I'll wait till I have to go in tomorrow.
I think I may even have some time to check into my LJ friends lives today!
Put some old super 8 film that Hazel bought under the scanner to see what they were - none the wiser really but they look slightly World War 2 'ish?
Put salt-preserved cherry blossom, which was on Sakuramochi, in hot water. Enjoy the flavour, looks lovely too :->
Clive put in a huge amount of work in organising the club's first ever Golf Clasic in 2007 which was a great success. He also won the Award for Junior Player of the Year - a great year for Clive. Well done & keep up the good work !
Put something in my mouth. Do it. I love having things in my mouth and I just swallowed the last things...so I'm out and I need a fix. Put that camera in my mouth.
Pesalat Rehab Center, Tanjung Puting
A delegation from RAN's agribusiness team attended the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) meeting in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo to advocate for human rights and land tenure rights, promote zero deforestation commitments, and demonstrate the need for value chain safeguards. After the RSPO conference Lafcadio Cortesi and Ashley Schaeffer visited Tanjung Puting National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the last strongholds of the endangered orangutan. The team toured an area of active deforestation and tense social conflict involving the company PT Bumi Lenggeng, a subsidiary of BW Plantation - an RSPO member company that operates about 100,000 ha. of oil palm plantations in Central and Eastern Kalimantan.

13th Station of the Cross.
Krizni Put - Way of the Cross from Dubrovnik to the top of Mount Srd (412m, 1351ft).
Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as Way of Sorrows or Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers. The stations grew out of imitations of Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem which is believed to the be the actual path Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. The object of the stations is to help the Christian faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the Passion of Christ.
The standard set from the 17th to 20th centuries has consisted of 14 pictures or sculptures depicting the following scenes:
1. Jesus is condemned to death
2. Jesus carries his cross
3. Jesus falls the first time
4. Jesus meets his mother
5. Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross
6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
7. Jesus falls the second time
8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
9. Jesus falls the third time
10. Jesus is stripped of his garments
11. Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross
12. Jesus dies on the cross
13. Jesus is taken down from the cross (Deposition or Lamentation)
14. Jesus is laid in the tomb.
Although not traditionally part of the Stations, the Resurrection of Jesus is sometimes included as a fifteenth station.
To provide a version of this devotion more closely aligned with the biblical accounts, Pope John Paul II introduced a new form of devotion, called the Scriptural Way of the Cross on Good Friday 1991.
Just configuring my desktop puter - just over £600 including monitor. I would plan to add another 1TB (to network it so that Karen can back-up her work stuff) and some more RAM at a later date.
As usual funds are low, so Phase 1 would not include the graphics or sound card (use onboard stuff from motherboard til then) which would take Phase 1 to £488.
SSD is an extravagance but would make the C drive super quick ;0,
Still - my laptop cost me about twice that and is just starting to fail after 3 years hard labour.
