Photographing Humans
One of the huge motivators for me going to India was a desire to become more skilled at photographing humans.
You will see a large number of images of people. So here is a disclaimer. I will not post an image of a person where they had not given me permission to do so. That permission was often given by the simple tilt of the head, but more often than not they had actually asked me to capture them. How did this come about?
I have never really done any street photography of people before heading to India. So I was on a very steep learning curve. What happened is I spent most of my time actually stopping and talking to people, in this case in the spice markets near Chandni Chowk in Delhi. I would have the most amazing conversations, often with folks who spoke very little english. At the end of the conversation they were asking me to snap them, and there was more often than not a real keenness from them.
I witnessed some, to be frank, arsehole tourists and their methods of capturing these people. They would just storm through barging up to the people and grabbing pics. All I know is they must have some pretty strange photos. And they cause a real reluctance on the part of people to take part I think.
I loved getting away from where those tourists were. In the most part I was hanging out amongst people, this was one of those places, where you just didn't see tourists. So the people I was hanging out with were surprised to firstly see a me wandering among the carts on the road, and secondly wanting to stop and have a hard case chat.
Anyway. I think I have learned a thing or two about taking photos of people on the street while away and I am so looking forward to sharing the images, but for me more importantly the stories of the people I shot, because I stopped and spoke to them so I could share their stories, so that you not only see their wonderful eyes, but might understand a bit about them as humans.

What does it take to capture the beauty of the evening sky? In this case, I had to max out the capabilities of my cheap equipment...and several layers of clothing to combat the cold winter breeze.
Now's the time when this will turn to fruit
All the poppies gonna push up through
And I can see the ground below
The places that I know, disappearing
And I can see the winter fade

Kentish Town Underground Station, London, England
Back Underground again and this time to Kentish Town Underground station, a previously unvisited station of mine. It is certainly a busy station with an interchange with the Midland Mainline so I couldn't get many images like I wanted. This is an image of the the two escalators coming from the surface.
In other news, Sony have just announced a full frame compact system camera, the A7 and A7r. I have been looking at initial reviews and it looks promising and very affordable. Lenses are a little sparse for it at moment but this is the case with all new cameras. Will be available at start of December and I may get one and move up to full frame. :-)

Location Information
Kentish Town station is a London Underground and National Rail station in Kentish Town in the London Borough of Camden. It is at the junction of Kentish Town Road (A400) and Leighton Road. It is in Travelcard Zone 2.
The station is served by the High Barnet branch of the London Underground Northern line, and by First Capital Connect Thameslink trains on the National Rail Midland Main Line. It is between Camden Town and Tufnell Park on the Northern line and between West Hampstead and St. Pancras International stations on the main line.
It is the only station on the High Barnet branch with a direct interchange with a National Rail line, additionally an Out of Station Interchange (OSI) with Kentish Town West is permitted.
There are four National Rail surface platforms and two London Underground underground platforms. National Rail trains are operated by First Capital Connect and Southeastern, with northbound trains running to Luton and southbound to Sutton, Orpington and Sevenoaks, via London St. Pancras and Blackfriars. East Midlands Trains InterCity services from Leeds, Sheffield and Leicester pass through but do not stop.
Ticket barriers control access to both London Underground and National Rail platforms.

Four 4-wheel drive tractors push freshly chopped corn silage up onto the mounded bunker silo. They drive over it to pack it tightly to help eliminate spoilage.

The weather this past week left us with snow on the mountains to match the snow topped almond orchards still in full bloom. In order to combat freezing temperatures in the orchards, sprinklers were left running througout the night resulting in a different kind of winter wonderland with icicles dripping from the trees in the morning light.
The photo below was taken this morning at Llano Seco looking west towards the Mendocino Mountain Range. Duck activity was light at the refuge but literally thousands of snow geese took to the air as we were leaving. They later passed our house, high overhead, noisily heading north.
The DPU on this coal empty pushes the train westward to Wyoming. Appears an EB shot here would work as well.

Another real display of love as a dad pushes his little son in this cute red cart in our local park. Both have their heads turned and seem to be looking at something with great interest.
I saw this little image as I took a walk after rain today. The rain has refreshed the land here and I couldn't help but smile at the new growth of this determined ivy plant pushing its way through the small crack in the fence.

I have not been feeling well the past couple of weeks. A head cold thing. But, I had to push through it today and get myself out. I had an item finally arrive (I ordered it in January) and a new consignment store opened up and I hadn't been to my usual dress store for ages and I needed to do some new photos. Push. I did. I pushed myself. I know I did not have my best happy face and I have certainly looked better but I pushed myself. This is not what I wore out but it is what I left the dress store in. The blouse and pants are from the dress store (funny but they don't look like a dress) and the yellow jacket/cover is from the consignment store. I changed at the dress store before heading out to do some photos. It was a gorgeous evening in my city, no wind and a perfect +15C I had a wonderful time being out and visible. It did in fact make me feel better. When in doubt...PUSH..
