I'm heading back to our more local zoo today. Here's Stax, a young common eland who lives there. He's learning to interact with objects in his environment, the way his parents do.
I'm pleased to see that Code, the father of Stax and one other calf, has assumed a big role in nurturing his children.

I saw this in Kinvara, County Galway today. The sign means that there is an unprotected quay ahead and somebody amusingly added a bike pushing the car over the edge. Research on Google led me to Vlady Art, the community artist responsible for this and other...um...defacements. Search for Vlady Art's flickr page - he has one.

With the driving trailer at the front and running 43 minutes early , a quick recompose catches 37610 pushing at the rear with the Bristol High Level sidings to Derby R.T.C. Network Rail test train. Lea Marston 24-04-2021
Having pushed its train all the way from Scarborough terminating at Leeds , 68024 now must push it all the way back again .
Shortly to depart as the 1T51 2124 Leeds - Scarborough , the service goes a circular way round running via Castleford .

A ScotRail Express push-pull set, on the 13:05 Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street service, passes the Grassy Beach on 3 January 1986.
A Class 47 brings up the rear of the six-coach formation. The third coach—a TSO(T)—stands out in its old BR Inter-City livery.
An E402 Electric pushes it's Intercity Train through Manarola Station on the Cinque Terre. The back of Manarola is on the cliffs in the distance and the station is reached, like a lot of stations on the Cinque Terre by either a tunnel (as here) or a cliff top path.

I've got a quirky preoccupation with graveside floral arrangements. Just another mental deviation I've come to accept. I think the underlying basis has to do with the dichotomy of bright colors, full of life and happiness played out against the tableau of grim death. Photographically this often strays into the realm of how things make me feel versus how they actually appear.
Found myself mesmerized by the funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth. Watching the royal hearse traverse mile after mile through towns and villages with people lining the way. Oddly joyous to observe, but all the while mindful that it was a one-way journey that would end in a crypt. The same sentiment as this simple floral arrangement, except played out on an immense scale. I'm not sure the world will ever see such a spectacle again.
This dominant tule elk with his thick burly neck is boisterously pushing his harem. The girls, for their part, are casually grazing along. They are used to his theatrics.
The Granite State Scenic Railroad's fall foliage special is passing the 115 year old former Boston and Maine Railroad Plymouth depot at MP 51.3 on the state owned former White Mountains mainline which traces its history back to 1853.
This fine structure harkens back to a glorious past, and until Halloween day in 1954 the joint Boston and Maine and Canadian Pacific Aloutte called here. This depot replaced an earlier station located in the basement of the Pemigewasset, a wooden hotel dating from 1862 owned by the Boston Concord & Montreal Railroad. When the hotel burned to the ground in 1909 taking the old depot with it it was quickly replaced with this structure that survives today.
This stone edifice tucked at the bottom of the hill on aptly named Depot Street served for only a half century until the last scheduled passenger train left for Boston on October 24, 1959. But more than six decades later it serves as the town's senior center and is always a worthy photo prop for one of the few trains a year that still pass this way.
Winnipesauke Scenic Railroad GP7 302 shoving on the rear of three demotored Budd RDCs and a fancy maroon and gold ex CN caboose. 302 was blt. Aug. 1950 as Rock Island number 438 and came north in 1985 when the start up New England Southern acquired it from the bankrupt ROCK's estate. It hauled freight on all the remaining ex B&M lines north of Manchester as NEGS 302 until 1998 when it was sold to the Plymouth and Lincoln, who promptly chopped the nose and repainted it maroon and silver.
In years past the locomotive led north and then while the passengers enjoyed their lunch at the Common Man Inn the crew would perform a runaround at the downtown Plymouth station before bringing the train back up to the Common Man and staging it for the return trip. But new owners Patriot Rail have chosen to do things differently this year and all trains are now operating push pull with the conductor protecting the shove ome direction from the caboose or platform of the lead coach.
