I went to see puppets being made for Shadow puppet theatre.
Wayang Kulit is a unique form of theatre employing light and shadow. The puppets are crafted from buffalo hide and mounted on bamboo sticks. When held up behind a piece of white cloth, with an electric bulb or an oil lamp as the light source, shadows are cast on the screen.
Wayang Kulit plays are invariably based on romantic tales, especially adaptations of the classic Indian epics, "The Mahabarata" and "The Ramayana". Some of the plays are also based on local happenings (current issues) or other local secular stories. It is up to the conductor or "Tok Dalang" to decide his direction.

We got ahold of some puppets in a magic shop and played with them for like 20 minuets. Alot of singing and dirty jokes.
I was in Lucca, during the "Lucca Comics and Games". These puppets were so... so weird. I'm pretty sure they were handmade.

This is from one of the first rooms you enter in the center...it is a huge room filled from top to bottom with puppets of all sorts. The room is dead silent, except for the sound of a random puppet moving...different puppets at different intervals...sometimes you don't see which puppet has moved, the only clue being a moving limb or noticing that one puppet has moved from one position to another. The effect is very very creepy!
This picture is from a session I did at CopyCamp on using puppets as a role playing aid. I wanted to mix a video but we got a little crazy and didn't make a whole lot of sence. So I grabbed stills from the video.

I really love how there is an arrow and the "puppet's" hand that point away from the direction the man is walking.
The library hosted an exciting puppet show called Puppet Commotion put on by Nitsana Lazarus! She brought in an impressive collection of puppets and entertained the two groups of children.
I have no interest in Christian Rock but as soon as they added puppets I had to stay for a few songs. If they had fraggles I'd be singing along.
