The play "The Three Little Fishies and the Big, Bad Shark" was performed with the debut of our new puppet theater.
I decided to get a puppet so that I could participate in the next puppet show. He's based on Ira Glass from This American Life and his name is Ira Nuts.
I didn't take this picture, the person who made him did. He's actually being shipped to me right now. Can't wait!

Yes, I am Sooo looking forward to cleaning up after this show gets underway. The stalk was wrapped in felt. Leaves were made from foam sheet and felt. This puppet has a lot of movement and bops along nicely.
The idea came a while after I had cut up the glove into individual fingers. I had explored photographing and drawing but felt stuck as to where to go next. Sewing the faces into the puppets felt natural to me as I thought it would be more permanent than ink. I also thought it would be interesting to have a range of different expressions to help identify each finger puppet.
Made from scrap fabric, felt and a styrofoam ball. I have made similar puppets with my students. This is doable with older elementary students.
