I'm planning out my theater for the Little Things to Sew- along. I'm using 1001 Peeps to turn it into an Arabian tower. More here:

As I didn't have a particular character in mind I'm surprised by what came out - a rather rough thug'ish old fat woman (eek... it's not me as I'm not thug'ish and I dye my hair so it's not so gray ;-P)
but maybe it's in response to working for 30 hours on a project and only getting 3 hours sleep then the house party kept me awake the following night and I did have a feeling of wanting to 'punch' someone lol (not literally as I'm a total wuss)
anyway this is Edna) but she prefers Eddie... which you will comply with...!

The adoration of Our Lady in Mechelen goes back over 1000 years.
Whenever there was an outbreak of the black death or threat of war, a statue of the Virgin Maria was carried through the streets.
When this seemed to have a positive effect, the population promissed to have a procession every year. Since 1738, the religious procession of Our Lady (Hanswijkprocessie) is enlarged to form the ‘cavalcade’, a two and a half hour procession which includes over 2000 participants. This cavalcade is only organized once every 25 years

“I was watching a soap opera and all of a sudden an earthquake took place,” says Natcharin, a 13-year old girl who lives in Chiang Saen, northern Thailand. “My mum and I hid under the table and bed. If there is a disaster, people in our community will be in trouble."
Natcharin recently attended a 2-day workshop with 29 other children from 4 villages to create characters and stories to use for a shadow puppet show all about disasters.
“In our story, we want to talk about how it isn’t good to ignore flood warnings. I’ll use my knowledge to perform for adults and children so that they know how dangerous disasters can be”.
Shadow puppetry is an effective way for vulnerable children and communities to learn about disaster risk reduction using easy, fun and engaging media. In partnership with Plan Thailand, the organisation Wondering Moon uses shadow theatre to tell stories of disasters.

The Willits Kinetic Carnivale is two days of steampunk fun in the sun (and under the moon). This festival has it all! The backstage of a puppet theater is where puppeteers take a rest and puppets are assembled. There are mainly four categories of puppet heads, namely sheng (生, male lead), dan (旦, female lead), chou (丑, clown) and jing (淨, painted face) representing characters of different gender and persona. When dressed with different costume and accessories, the puppets can develop into various roles for different stories.

VanLear is the Artistic Director of Community Arts for the Cleveland Museum of Art. She is also director of Parade the Circle, an annual parade held at University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio. This puppet was made for the 2016 Community Festivals Program at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The year is 1882. A young servant girl named Esther disappears from a small Hungarian village. Several Jewish men from the village of Tisza Eszvar face the ‘blood libel’ — the centuries-old calumny that Jews murder Christian children for their blood. A fourteen-year-old Jewish boy named Morris Scharf becomes the star witness of corrupt authorities who coerce him into testifying against his fellow Jews, including his own father, at the trial.
