Sopwith Pup 9917/G-EBKY at Old Warden on 21st January 2026. The rockets, I have just found out, are Le Prieur projectiles, fired electronically by a switch in the cockpit. They were for use against observation balloons and airships; the pilot had to dive at about 45 degrees to aim them before firing them off. They had some success against balloons but no-one ever managed to down an airship using them. They were replaced fairly quickly by incendiary bullets.

This lonely seal pup was photographed at Auchmithie which is just north of Arbroath. It had been lying on the beach by itself with no family members in the vicinity. You can see it it suffering from conjunctivitis in it's right eye. After a while a local SSPCA officer had a look and encouraged the pup back into the water.

Well, you'd hope not, anyway
After hanging around for awhile, this pup kept looking at me but couldn't tell if I were an animal (I was hidden bethind a log/brush) but he kept lifting his nose and I think he eventually smelled me and went back in.
I thought this was a fox pup, now I'm wondering if it's a coyote, help? Taken in New Jersey
These little fellas hide in the grass, which makes a clean shot difficult.
You shouldn't approach too close as this may put them under stress or their mother might be hiding behind you and they bite.
