I observed folks jumping over this giant puddle in Union Square. It was interesting to see each person's reaction on how to keep their feet dry.
Slightly edited shot of a woman reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some adjusted contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)
I was biking to the city center last weekend when I came across this lovely puddle, so I stopped for some shots, it's one of my favorite corners because there are always people passing by, and in this case there was a lady who kept walking by, calling somebody else, you can nicely see her in the movie I've made. I'm wondering if she was actually talking to somebody or if she was just trying to hog all the attention, because I didn't see another person around...maybe she was calling my name and I wasn't listening properly, hahaha :D
I've made a reflection movie of this puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you :)
It's time to think about entering the 2011 Pullip and Dal Doll Lovers Event online photo/art contest. Anyone can enter. This is a great way to participate in PUDDLE if you can't make the trip!
Last year's winning entry, Kisses When Wet by effiethedal, appeared in Doll Reader magazine (as you can see in subsequent photos).
The theme of this year's PUDDLE is cranes. You can represent the theme in your photo or artwork, but it's not required. What is required is that the entry be your own work, be new and taken or created specifically for the contest, and that it show Pullip, Dal, Taeyang, Namu, Byul, Isul, mini Pullip or Dal, or Angel Pullip or Dal. Photo manipulation is allowed, just tell me what was done to the photo when you submit it to me. If we receive enough entries, at the judge's discretion categories may be created and additional prizes awarded.
To enter, email a digital image of your photo or artwork to me by May 1, 2011. Complete rules here, or let me know if you have questions.

You can certainly do better than me - look at the pathetic sign I made to advertise the contest on flickr!

On a stormy day, a good pair of boots means a good time playing in puddles of rain.
(inspiration for this one was stolen from a blog I follow. :D)
We had the most fantastic storm in the middle of the night - torrential rain and more lightning than I've ever seen before. This morning was rather overcast and more humid than ever, but I had a good walk to work from Cannon Street, hunting for puddles to photograph.
Hot, sticky day at work, followed by an unbelievably hot and sticky climb at the Arch this evening. Had a really good time though and managed to round it off by completing a climb I'd not been able to do before.

The snow was thawing slowly, drops of water falling from the trees into the puddle below producing quite a hypnotic effect
Unedited shot of a living statue on the Dam square in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)
Help! The Amsterdam children are disappearing, lured away by the sweet, sweet music of the Pied Puddle Piper, into a wicked, wet world where they have to undergo a training in posing as living statues and then get sent off to the typical touristic attractions, to spend the rest of their days entertaining the visitors to the best city in the world, for just a few coins as their reward! I was lucky enough to capture a very typical scene, the Pied Puddle Piper finding his next victim, a young, unsuspecting boy, who just wanted to give him some change, but instead ended up joining the ever-growing ranks of those unfortunate enough to fall for the empty promises of a better future, it's a sad thing, and nobody seems to be able to stop these horrible puddle creatures, lol ;-))
Enjoy the weekend, take it easy!
My next photo exhibition at the ABC Treehouse, together with the lovely Miss Monyart, is going to start on February 5 and will go on until the end of the month, hope to see you there :)
The same puddle as the previous photo, but from a different angle and with slightly different light. The last 30 minutes of daylight are always the most exciting, and the world can't have been bluey-red for more than a few seconds. Thankfully, photography excels in such situations.
The lines across the middle are power lines. The bokeh in the foreground is simply some wet gravel.

Challenge Week 24 - Raindrops and Puddles
For this shot, I poured about 2 liters of water on a concrete slab. The biggest difficulty in taking this shot was to avoid lens flare, so I actually wasn't able to compose the shot the way I would have liked. A fun experiment just the same.

It's Sunday, it's sunny and the best city in the world is still asleep, except for one wicked Reflectah, who had coffee on his sun-flooded balcony already to be awake enough to please your eyes with yet another series of wicked reflection shots. Even though it rained only a little bit in the last weeks, there are luckily still enough puddles around to continue shooting the pretty people of Amsterdam in my usual fashion, somebody up there in the sky, who is in charge of providing wet spots, really seems to like me, a lot, hahaha :D
Have a relaxed Sunday, take it easy, do only fun things today :)
I've made a wicked movie of this puddle as well, watch it on my YouTube channel, thank you :)
