Young Coconut Pudding Baked in a Shell with Palm Sugar Sauce. This was really good. The pudding had a similar texture to Creme Brulee. The combination of Palm Sugar and Coconut meat went definitely complemented one another
I got this dessert at the Indian buffet and the scent was something familiar I couldn't place so I had Daryl smell it to try and figure it out. He didn't know what it was.
Maybe ginger? Cardamom? Cinnamon? All three?
Leek Bread Pudding is just as custards work well in the savory portion of the meal, although they’re more often served as a dessert, so do bread puddings. from Thomas Keller
Dinner @ "The Sampan".
"local coconut pudding, coffee tuile, charred bread ice cream"
This dessert was recommended by the restaurant and my table we would give it a try.
We were a tad shock at how luminous the green in the pudding was when the dessert arrived. It reminded us of the colour of Ondeh Ondeh or Kueh Dadar. Kaya's green should be a tad more muted. The texture of the Kaya pudding wasn't smooth (mate was expecting custardy silky smooth) - in fact, it reminded me of the more congealed Kaya layer in Kueh Salat (which I didn't mind)!
The charred bread ice cream was very intriguing - it reminded me of melting butter on toast. Mate and myself were impressed.
When I combined all components together in the mouth, it did remind me of "Roti and Kopi". Ingenious dessert, only perhaps let down by the shocking greenness of the pudding! (Radioactive pandan, joked my mate)

Please forgive me, late upload along with a bag photo.
But look at that pudding. Any tawianese person will know that this stuff is second to NONE.
My parents brought some of this stuff back when they came back from Taiwan a few weeks back.
Katherine and I baked a cake today. It was the first layered cake I\'ve ever baked. We even bought 2 more pie pans to help make all the layers. It has a chocolate mint pudding outside as frosting and a white cake with mint Oreos and mint. It is delicious!
