A little bit too sweet for me. Next time I'll either cut back on the condense milk or incorporate more whipped cream to the pudding.
Lemon curd, elderberry, cream, meringue.
Tasting menu course 5.
Easily the course that incited the most coos from our table of hens. A pleasing pudding composed of mildly tart and silky smooth lemon curd, dotted with elderberries, and lightened with cream and airy meringue shards.
This whimsical and dainty course was made even more endearing by the winking "Yum" cup.
Really really good.

Rice Pudding
With raspberry coulis. ($6.50)
Notes: I've never seen a rice pudding served like this. The rice pudding had been baked in a mold and inverted. At first, I thought they mixed up our order and brought out a sponge cake of some sort. To be sure, the inside was a dense glutinous rice pudding with a hint of cinnamon. Not the best rice pudding I've had. Not my favorite dessert I tried this night at La Bodega.
The We’re Here! gang is celebrating chocolate today. This is a big container of chocolate pudding I made for my best friend, who is going through cancer treatments. It’s honest-to-goodness made-from-scratch pudding with heavy cream, real chocolate, eggs, and all. I was sitting in the car waiting for him (he has a medical appointment) and pondering today’s theme, when I realized that I have vat of chocolate pudding in the boot (trunk)!
Tie a leaf, blue drawers or dukunu whatever the name native Jamaicans call it. Different sections of the island have different names for things. The mixture is just like the potato pudding ,just that this is not baked but instead is tied in banana leaf with string from the banana plant and boil in a pot
Yes, that is warmed golden syrup in a very literally-named pudding.
From the back of the card, "TO VARY: Black top pudding: Use blackcurrant jam instead of syrup. Red cap pudding: Use red jam instead of syrup. OR flavour the sponge mixture with spice, chocolate etc. For a more economical pudding use 2 oz. margarine, 2 oz. sugar, 1 egg with flour and milk or water to a soft dropping consistency."
The atrocious punctuation above is copied from the card exactly.

Ahhh, Saturday afternoon...
This is a slightly modified version of my gluten free steamed ginger pudding, wherein I increase slightly the amount of Golden Syrup and use vanilla sugar in place of plain caster sugar.
