St-Nicolas, Publy, département du Jura
A fine-looing 15th Century church which is a national monument. Unfortunately locked when I visited.
we were seasoned eaters by the time we got this at the black friar; afterward we were kind of still hungry.
Eh? Why not just say "if you appear to be under 21, you will be..." or "if you appear to be under 18..."
As it's that time of the 4 year cycle again here's a shot to trigger memories of the last World Cup in 2010. It was here that I saw two England games, albeit the dull 0-0 draw with Algeria and the ultimate defeat by Germany. May well see some of this year's games here as my friend still lives in Clevedon. Let's hope for better results although the first game has already yielded disappointment.
Mitchell Arms Every St/Beswick St Deepest Ancoats/Holt Town.
Tram lines currently being laid outside which may affect this historic building.
One of the last pubs left open in the once bastion of Industrial might that was Ancoats- cradle of the industrial revolution.
Unusual area is this.
Get in there before it goes like all the rest of them have.

This sign relates to the building
being the original Cock pub/Hotel in the
high street in Epping, Essex, England.
but the building now is just a series of shops,
unforunately the cock is not the original.
Some pubs capture the imagination with impressive traditional features and architecture, others just look like uninspiring bland boxes. The George at Wednesbury for me falls into the latter category; positioned in the town centre on the corner of Upper High Street and Union Street, this February 2009 photo shows a miscreant G threatening to drop away from the pub's external lettering.
Sulking around beer gardens, this shy creature is rarely noticed. Not because it's particularly good at hiding - it's got big, glaring reflective eyes - but because everyone it stalks is completely shitfaced.

The Boars Head in Middlewich is a classic Robinson's Pub with a great frontage. There is some nice terracotta decoration above all windows whilst the boar's head and associated decoration is (I think) stone. The Cyclists' Touring Club enamel sign below the right side windows is a bonus. The beer isn't bad either.
This sign on a pub tells parents to tell their children to keep the noise down when sitting in an outside area behind a pub.
I See good advice
Back in the day this was one of the main pubs in Newport.
It closed down then re-opened as a "Steak" pub.
Sad to see it like this.
I used to go in there years ago and it was pretty good.
Wanna come on a pub crawl with me? I swear I'm friendly
so no poker ride this time just a joyous bicycle pub crawl, hit up a few bars with a more relaxed pace, no cards no prizes, except the prize of riding bicycles and spending time with friends. More details to come.
This old Pub Sign has recently been repainted. I am pleased to see it safely back in place in Eastgate Street. For many years, I thought it was a 'Glove maker to the King' type sign but was recently told that, many years, ago there used to be a Pub there called the Crown & Glove.
