May 22nd 2010 - Outside BBC Broadcasting house in London.
My girlfriend and I love BBC 6music. So much so that we went on a 450 mile road trip just to attend a protest outside BBC Broadcasting House in London.
There isn't much time to tell the BBC that the decision to close 6music and The Asian Network is wrong, the consultation ends on the 25th of May. Click here to find out what to do.
“The BBC can’t possibly close 6 Music, what will happen to the best new music and passing on the knowledge of old music? What other station plays bands like The National and then follows it with Curtis Mayfield and then the Beastie Boys? It's just wrong to even consider it, it will make fewer young people want to listen to the radio and therefore less new stuff will happen, sort ya heads out please.”

The Spanish “Indignant” movement comprises a number of different political entities unhappy with the Spanish Government approach to the financial position of the Country. In particular those in the movement believe that the Government is bowing to pressure from financial markets and ignoring the needs of the people. In pursuing their protests a number of marches and political meetings continue to take place in Madrid often involving thousands of protesters.

This protest had been planned for the day that SB 1070 was to go into effect (July 29th). A federal judge blocked the most controversial parts of the law, but the protest went ahead in front of the building where Sheriff Joe Arpaio's offices are located. Blocking the intersection was the main act of civil disobedience. A couple dozen protesters were arrested by cops in riot gear, but it was a peaceful protest.

A small protest erupted here in Paris last week, captured here in a drive-by shooting (a camera, not a gun!!) by myself. I consulted a friend of mine who knows about these things as to what this protest was about (google "Paris, TX" and racism to get more details), and all he said was "If you stir up the s**t, it stinks even more."
Wise words, indeed.

Two protesters debate with police about whether they're allowed to have the yellow and black panel they brought into the park. Police eventually decided they were allowed to keep it. Under the new park rules, large backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, and tarps are not allowed. Other large items appear to be a grey area for now.
