"Promise Me:" I caught the tail end of a rainbow from a light storm that dissipated quicker than any other I'd ever seen. When I headed out, there were lots of dark clouds, and by the time I got to my location only a few minutes later, the sky was almost completely blue. Normally I would see clouds start to diminish in size as a storm ended and migrate across the sky, but this one really just vanished completely overhead. Some lingering sprinkles allowed me a brief chance to take a couple pictures of this rainbow before it too disappeared!

I made myself a promise that I will go there again only when it will all be dead. Only then, it will be ready to be born again. And so the time came, and I took myself there. To...

Promises likened to
The most fragile of flowers
They drifted on the winds
Of a broken love
After being sprinkled
With black blood
But I held tighter yet back then
In hope that they would fly back again

Thank you so much for the shoot Ayumi! Vous êtes belle
And a special thank you to Yasuyuki and Taka! お疲れさまでした!!

"The Promise:" Last evening in Prescott, Arizona, I was fortunate enough to capture this dramatic scene over the Granite Dells at Willow Lake. The initial strike was the bolder one on the left, and luckily I was also able to capture a secondary one that appeared to slash right through the partial rainbow on the right almost immediately after. Rainbows have long been a symbol to some people of promises or opportunities to make a wish come true. Whatever you believe when you encounter a rainbow, I can only say that I hope this image brings you a moment of joy.
I haven't been taking as many shots as I would like recently as been a bit busy. So, whilst sitting on a cold rock this morning I made a promise to myself to get out at least twice a week (weather permitting!) and get some good shooting in. Oh, and it was 3°C this morning.

A composition practice according to Stephen Shore's work. I took this pic at a resting station during sunset, the sunset yellowed everything which softened the contrast as well. I was attracted by the cloud and pole, the pole just stood there and the cloud seemed have a lot of story to tell. The scene was beyond my words.
“Some people don't understand the promises they're making when they make them," I said.
"Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That's what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”
― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

Taken this morning when I was in my photoshoot frenzy mood. Pretty much all of my shots this morning were with the head cut off. I just love the idea of an identity-less person.
Giant's Nubble, Adirondacks, NY. Winter was giving way on this morning in March, starting cold but becoming comfortable a couple hours after sunrise, as March mornings do. I had climbed from Roaring Brook Falls through the woods in snow with consistency, grainy and wet with the recent rising temperatures. I came to The Nubble, an open outcrop on Giant Mountain, providing numerous views to Noonmark, the Dix Range, and the Great Range to the right, with Mount Marcy's snow cap peeking through a notch. Once out of the woods I gladly removed snowshoes to wander around with a bit more ease, looking for views across the valley. The icy ledges directly across from me are above Chapel Pond, in a narrow defile too deep to be seen from Giant. Somehow I find promise here. Maybe it is the naked rock I was on, juxtaposed against the snowpack south of me, telling me there were cracks in the grip of winter. Maybe it was the red buds on the hardwoods, or maybe it was the warmth of the sun at an early hour. Maybe it's that I was the man who saw something here when I took this a few years ago. We change: hope teases, promise wanes. I don't know if I'd see something here today. Maybe I can get back to that man.
