Writefest 2022 - Albatross - Rehearsal Photos

They are finally starting the city water project on our road. The neighbors are thrilled. But I have mixed feelings. We all have wells, but I am the only one with a good well (we drilled 180 foot past several sulpher streams to hit good water) Our well tests out cleaner than city water and tastes so much better. I know the project is needed, but am not sure what to hook up in the house. I refused to sign the right of way and users agreements that originally said I had to disconnect my well. I can use both and will put in a valve that will allow me to switch between the two.

The construction company was leaving their equip on the side of the road and it was vandalized, so I told them that they could park their equip up near the road on our property. My boys are thrilled and go out everyday after they are done to examine the new pipes and bits and pcs they have brought in.

I've been asked quite often why I use flashlight and I've been advised not to use it.

With this little experiment I want to show you WHY I use it. This photo was taken with flashlight.

Although the amaryllis casts a shadow I find the colours much more natural - like I saw the flower on my shelf in front of the white wall. Apart from the lack of any colour fog it is very crisp and clear.

Please compare this one with the previous photo and form your own opionon...

I hate seeing these beautiful old Spanish style buildings being knocked down.

Usually you don't notice it. One day it's there, the next day it's an empty lot, a day later it's some fugly box with four times as many units.

More people, more congestion, more traffic, less happiness.

Whatever is built in their place will not add anything more to the city than these buildings have been giving for the past 70 to 80 years.

Progress is definitely being made, we actually plan on moving in in five days.

I then painted the black background using lots of linseed oil to thin certain areas and get some interesting textures in the background as I didn't want it to be a plain solid black. After this step I used some turpentine to get some more transparent and textured parts below the neck as I unfortunately covered it a bit more than I intended to, making it look like a weirdly floating head with the top part out of frame.

Work in progress. Oil on canvas

The way of the future! The way of the future!

FSH Bowling, Equestrian Center and RV storage, progress on 29Dec22

hooray the walls are back up, and the ceiling is in! the room still needs to be plastered, but i will wait until i can do all the rooms at the same time. the hardwood floor has taken a bit longer than expected to put down, but it will be worth it. this will probably be the last photo of the kitchen for a while as i start working on the bathroom soon.

Progress as of 3/2/08. I wasn't paying attention to previous squares, and duplicated color patterns already. Grrr. Will redo top one.

Close up of the inside of my first box. Sorry the quality of these pictures is bad..
