After the S7000, I tried my hardest to obtain another Fuji that could cope with the hammering I'd given the first one.

Fujifilm came up with a new model, an S9000 (9500 in the US, I think) and I promptly ordered one. It didn't last long. I was very disappointed, and sent it back. I tried a couple of others, and they all exhibited similarly fuzzy pics.

Fuji have since replaced this model with a newer one which I'm told doesn't have the problem, but in the meantime I'd given up, and settled on this: A Panasonic Lumix FZ-30. This did everything the S7000 had, upped the resolution to 8mpixels, and had an equivalent to a 28-430mm zoom. I never regretted the choice. Very nice piece of equipment.

You can imagine my surprise when my wife replaced it AGAIN, yesterday...

It's been several years since I made a pompom and today I made two.

The first was a little one with some scrap green yarn, just to remind myself of the technique. The second was with three colours of chunky yarn to adorn my new Jayne Cobb hat. The pompom, seen here in the midst of construction, uses the same yarn (and colours) as the rest of the hat.

It has been so hot that it's hard to get to good shots. Some were taken in the mid afternoon and some in the evening. Just documenting the progress of the garden for the midseason point for the year.
