•Franciscan Boys Home – Bethlehem
Boys, 6-18 years of age, live at the Franciscan Boys Home six days a week and return to their families on Sunday. The boys come from dysfunctional families residing in Bethlehem and receive psychological and emotional assistance. The FFHL runs the home for boys in a caring place where neighborhood youth can feel the safety and nurturing needed to survive.
FFHL has hired a full time staff which includes a cook, several teachers, a child psychologist, a social worker, a housekeeper, a club supervisor, as well as maintenance and security personnel. Both a Franciscan priest and a Franciscan nun serve as Directors of the Boys Home. The boys come from many local communities including Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, and Beit Jala, and attend the local Catholic school. The costs of salaries of staff, food, maintenance of the building, and yearly school tuition are fully funded by the FFHL.

PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM - Disney Channel's sweet and lovely movie about friendship between two girls: Carter, an ordinary American town girl, and Rosalinda (later known as Rosie), a princess of a small country. When Rosie's tiny country is invaded by a dictator, the young Princess is rescued by Carter's father, Joe Mason, a secret service man from the Princess Protection Program. Under the protection of agent Joe Mason, Rosie is whisked away to rural Wisconsin to live with Carter as her cousin. There, Rosie must learn the ins and outs of behaving like a normal American teenager to protect herself. The two girls live and study together and have something fun. They help each other in daily life. Carter teaches Rosalinda how to behave like a normal student, how to eat Hamburg like others do, and how to get rid of Rosie's princess airs. Instead, Rosie help Carter to find her inner "princess" – self-confidence. They soon become the most popular "princess" in the school and Rosalinda is finally elected to be the Festival Queen. Meanwhile, Carter, Carter's father and Rosie's royal private fashion designer corporately rescue the Princess Rosalinda with wisdom, and help her return her country to throne in the end.

The old film camera seems very primitive compared to the modern digital cameras.
An empty box of slide film dated 2005 and an unopened box of HP5 dated 2014 prove testament to when the camera was last used.
Maybe one day....
I was inspired by the logo for the Milwaukee Bicycle Co. to create a new logo for the Bike Program.
It's not official or anything. I was just having fun playing around in Illustrator (and AutoCAD for the technical elements).
Of course, for those not familiar with the city, it's heavily based on the municipal flag of Chicago.

The Fall 2010 Student Hackathon brought in hundreds of students from 30 universities to NYU's Courant Institute for 24 hours of creative hacking on New York City startups' APIs.
Selected startups presented their technologies at the beginning of the event, and students formed groups to brainstorm and begin coding on their ideas. Many students worked into the night, foregoing sleep to fulfill their visions.
On Sunday afternoon students presented their projects to an audience including a judging panel, which selected the final winners.
hackNY hosts hackathons one each semester, as well as a Summer Fellows Program, which pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment, a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Startups selected to host a student are expected to compensate student Fellows. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup.

Amsterdam University College -
Science Park Amsterdam, the international knowledge centre in the Watergraafsmeer neighbourhood is the new home for the Liberal Arts and Sciences program at the Amsterdam University College, a joint institute of the University of Amsterdam and VU University Amsterdam. Science Park is located in the eastern part of the city, close to Amsterdam’s historic seventeenth-century city centre. In September 2012, international students and professors started at the new school of 5,800 m², that can accommodate 900 students. Surrounded by other science buildings, the Science Park provides an interesting environment for the AUC with optimal opportunities for cross fertilization of ideas and talent. The park has an urban character in which buildings, landscape and public space are strongly intertwined. Science Park encompasses a program of 500,000 m² in total including office buildings, laboratories and educational facilities, hotel, conference facilities, sports and cultural programs, restaurants and housing.
Arriving from the city center or the new train station Amsterdam Science Park, the sculptural AUC building together with the Anna Hoeve historic farm house, form the new entrance to the Science Park. Mecanoo designed Amsterdam University College as an inspiring home for a community of international students and their professors. It is an inviting building with a spacious loft on top. The loft was created by placing the roof diagonally north-south. The tilting roof forms a loft where the more contained, quiet study areas and library are housed. Large voids form the heart of the building and create a visual relationship between the different floors. A staircase winds through the voids, symbolising a sense of community for its users. Distinguished spaces such as the restaurant, common room and study hall are double height. Vast windows in these rooms offer beautiful views of the surroundings. The striking façade is made of corten steel and furnishes the building with a warm yet formal presence which contrasts with the more formal architecture of the Science Park.
The AUC is a sustainable building. The Greencalc + score is set at a building index of 200. The compact building mass creates an optimal ratio between wall and floor surface and the relationship between open and closed surfaces in the facade is optimized. The building uses ground source storage and concrete thermal massing. The large roof area has a sedum roof cover that provides insulation and water storage. Sensors which detect movement and daylight monitors are also applied throughout the new building. High quality internal acoustics is achieved through the use of extensive wood wall panelling that extends from the ground floor to the upper floor ceiling. This element also provides a clear orientation point for students and visitors.

This is the first of four version of our program/bulletin for our upcoming series, "The Gospel According To. . . " Each week's message will feature a different persona and how he or she lived out the gospel. We had artists who go to our church paint portraits of each of the people. So, each program will feature the painting with this same graphic/person's name underneath. I'm only posting this one for now because I'm waiting on the other paintings to be finished. The project needs to go to press in a week, and I'd welcome any feedback!

During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.
Doing a few quick tests on sample data from the project I'm currently woking on.
Needs a bit of smarts to filter out errant results.
