Same procedure as last week... I wasn't really happy with any of my images, and took several more (of the same subject) today, but in the end I decided to stick to an image taken last night. It's strange sometimes, isn't it? So here we go, circles, or rather holes of a reduction sieve (?) that came with my espresso maker. Each of the holes has a diameter of 1 mm / 0,03 inches. I wanted a very narrow focal plane and everything else as bokeh, and in that I guess I've succeeded – somehow. Well, I hope you like the image anyway, I've looked at it too many times yesterday and today, so I can't see the forest for the trees (or the coffee for the holes) :)
It's a single image illuminated with one LED lamp (equipped with the blue tealight holder), and backlight coming from another LED lamp (equipped with the yellow plastic bottle cap) on which I had also placed the sieve. Processed in DXO and Color Efex where I'd slightly tweaked the colours by adding some warmth with the Reflector Efex Gold filter.
HMM, Everyone!
This is a part of the procedure of a water purification system. It is a step in the process to make the water feel softer, ie to get rid of most of the iron and lime etc...
...as last holidays. Every time since the little pier of Hvidbjerg Strand has been constructed I have to creep under the building to take a shot. It has become almost an obsession. Needless to say that this exercise is more convenient in Summer and times of low tide. Blavand, Jylland, Denmark
The Wood Duck was hunted nearly to extinction during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Management procedures have been successful and there are now well over a million Wood Ducks in North America.
This is an archive shot of Cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliffe, Brisbane in the late afternoon sun. Almost exactly 11 months later, the creek would be turned into a raging torrent that devastated local suburbs at levels never seen in previous floods because of the intensity of the rain.
We have friends who were victims of the creek and lost almost everything. Five weeks on, they are tearing their hair out with frustration as a well known high profile local insurance company has done nothing except make their life miserable. After five weeks they have hardly advanced with their claim because of poor customer service, lack of procedures for handling such events and a sneaky way of ensuring they pay out as little as possible despite promises in the PDS. They should have learnt after the public battering they received in 2011 but trade on their name, which in my opinion now, for a company I had a lot of respect for is worth sweet nothing. They rate 2 out of 10 after seeing what they have put our friends through.
This shot is taken just a bit upstream from where the creek enters Moreton Bay and as you can see, where the prawn trawlers tie up. They used to sell through a local Co-op but it closed years ago. Now they sell straight off the boat - can't get fresher than that.
The same procedure as every year ... "Look, what a beautiful little tree ... come on, let's cut it off and slowly kill it in the dry apartment and when it's no longer nice, then we throw it in front of the door, someone will take care of it" ... 😈

Waiting for the approval of the brand new Railjet coaches in Italy, the first OBB Rh1216-A already painted in the same livery, the unit N°018, is in service with the Eurocity trains between München and Verona along the Brenner route.
Here it's running throught the Adige Canyon between Salorno and Mezzocorona with the train 89. (4/16/16)

The tours are well organized and prepared for emergencies. They have procedures to evacuate tourists for emergencies or claustrophobic anxieties. They DO NOT ALLOW tripods, monopods, or selfie sticks. They have apparently had problems with tourists.
This is an amazing place. Every turn shows a new amazing, colorful, glowing, canvas. It was easy to take lots of photos. The tough part was culling the photos when I got home.
There were 9 people (representing 4 families) and a guide in our group. The tours are a little under an hour from start to finish. We were the first of 4 or 5 groups in our time slot. The sent us in about 10 minutes apart. The guide is very informative and educational. There was some pressure to keep the group moving. The guide was helpful and took pictures of the families several times during the tour.

The Navajo name for Lower Antelope Canyon is Hasdez twazi’, which means “the spiral role arches.” Lower Antelope Canyon is about 3, 704 feet in elevation and the canyon walls are about 120 above the streambed. This canyon is more narrow to walk through, as it’s shaped like a “V”, so if you are claustrophobic this area is not for you. It goes into the slot canyon and have to maneuver thru closely on stairs, which is harder to walk through. This area is also located within the Le Chee Chapter of the Navajo Nation, near Page, Arizona.

Lubrication information tag hanging from the speed-control pull-chain of a mid-to-late 1950s-vintage Fresh'nd-Aire air circulator (the Successor to the Fan, as the tag boasts), about 2½" (63.5mm) tall. (I haven't yet posted a picture of the unit by itself, but it can be seen here; it has long since been relocated since I took that shot.)
I'll confess...even though this fan (sorry, air circulator) sees regular summertime use, I hadn't lubricated it in about fifteen years. Back when I first put it in service, I lubricated it with synthetic automatic transmission fluid instead of the oil recommended on the tag. Over the years, I noticed no performance loss. Since I had the unit apart on my workbench to clean off the accumulated dust inside and out before the photoshoot, I gave the bearings fresh squirts of ATF to keep the air circulator going for many years to come..
By the way, I couldn't help but search the address on the tag to see what became of the factory. It is now the site of an apartment building.
🇬🇧 In the usual Seljuk fashion, a Christian basilica on the site was converted into a mosque after the city was conquered in 1080. Many of the building materials and architectural sculptures were taken from the basilica and other nearby Byzantine monuments.
Major rebuilding of the mosque in 1219
The minaret and marble mihrab (1891) date from the Ottoman Empire.
The courtyard of the mosque contains two monumental mausoleums
The decahedral mausoleum with its conical roof is the burial place of the Seljuk dynasty and contains the sarcophagi of eight sultans of Rûm.
The second mausoleum was started by Kay Kâwus
but remained unfinished at the time of his death.....sépultures anonymes

Same procedure as last time. Still going through the archives and still finding images worth processing. Again a first version, tomorrow or at the weekend I'll take a final look and do a print to see if I need to refine.
This year we went to the same place but the light didn't come close to what I saw that morning, one year ago. I will try again next year :-)
cheers
Edit: fixed the saturation a bit. Now it's more natural I think
