Litho gum transfer print work recently I'm working on. The transfer was made on 245gsm Stonehenge Rising paper(left) and traditional Korean Mulberry paper.

started off as a drypoint demo, decided to stay after class and flesh it out.

Experimented more with Gelli plate laser transfer. I’m not getting what I wanted, but it is an interesting result. This time I let the transfer dry on the plate and then I applied white gesso over it, put paper down, weighted with books, let it dry for an hour and pulled the print.

In October, I attended a wonderful print-making workshop. This is the image I created then with a suitable mat. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail (cell phone image)

Scratch Art Subi Block Printing Paper, Lukas black tube watercolor pigment and Golden Fluid acrylics mixed with Golden GAC 100 acrylic medium and Golden Retarder on a Glad Press'n Seal Kitchen Wrap plate. Image is 5x7 inches (12.5x17.8 cm).

This is my new (used) press!!! It is a Ray Trayle etching press. He is a retired engineer who built around 63 presses--all are different and unique. Mine is dual motor/fly wheel action, press bed is 32" across. It's so pretty! I bought it with the money I earned from this commission---->(next pic)

Some linocut artists can attack blank lino and 'draw' their picture with the gouge, but not me. I need a sketch to guide my cutting. For a long time I have done this by transferring a photocopy or laser print using solvent to soften the toner so it sticks to the lino. You can't do this with inkjet prints, but here's a way round it. Load your printer with gummed paper (Flat Sam, Pancake, that sort of thing) the wrong way up so it prints on the gummed side.

If you then place the paper print face down on the lino, put a piece of damp tissue on the top and press it for a second or two, the water softens the gum so it sticks to the lino, taking the ink with it.

Lino cut on Fabriano paper.

Inspired by the beautiful wild flower buds which pop into the world around April, this is one of the resulting stylised prints.
