The first Global Forum on Youth Policies took place in Baku, Azerbaijan on 28-30 October 2014.
The final day started with the plenary session on guiding principles for global youth policy development. This session addressed principles that should guide &inform youth policy development, implementation and monitoring at local, national, regional and global levels.
Following the plenary session, regional sessions explored how the common denominators and guiding principles discussed throughout the Forum could be translated into regional contexts. Facilitated by the UN regional commissions, these sessions featured overviews of the regional status-quo in relation to youth policy & youth policy frameworks.
A special session was also held on mobilizing youth people in the response to Ebola. A session was about the efforts of young people in the fight against Ebola – with youth participants from the region.
To finalize the work and summarize the results of all discussions, a closing session on the issue of “Taking youth policies forward: the next 5 years” was held. The final session reviewed and took stock of the First Global Forum on Youth Policies. A summary by the reporting team and reflections by the General Rapporteur of the Forum was followed by statements of and discussions with the Forum’s main stakeholders, focusing on the way ahead and actions needed to be undertaken in the coming years to take youth policies forward. As a result of a closing session, Baku Commitments on Youth Policies was adopted. Find the Baku Commitments from here: www.youthpolicyforum.org/documents/commitment.pdf
The Farewell Reception was followed by the final dinner of the First Global Forum on Youth Policies.
I chose this picture for Principles of design for contrast because it shows two rainbows that are not the same shade of color. One rainbow is a faded version of the other one. They contrast each other in color.
I won't be using all 12 principles for my animation.
Squash and stretch will be necessary for the bow in my animation, as it requires to stretch to great lengths to emphasise how tough and rubbery it is, thus causing Grim to become frustrated.
Anticipation is necessary to bring realism, without it the animation will look robotic. I will be trying to bring anticipation into the movement of the bow as well as the sleeves of the robe when Grim is moving his arm. Without it, the bow and sleeves will look solid and take away from the illusion they are in fact material.
Pose to pose will be used instead of straight ahead action, as it will save time and pose to pose is better for dramatic scenes, or showing large emotions such as frustration in my case.
Overlapping movement is essential to bring more realism to it, as characters are constantly moving separate body parts. In the case of Grim, his hands and head will be moving at the same time but at different rates of speeds, such as one hand will slowly rise up to take the bow from the other hand, which will be moving quickly trying to flick the bow from itself, this will be combined with secondary actions.
Follow through will be used on the sleeves as well as the bow to bring realism to it, as when the arm moves, the sleeve will continue to move on from the momentum of movement. Same can be said of the bow when being moved on top of the present.
Arcs will naturally be apparent due to the nature of the rig and model.
I will try to exaggerate movements to emphasise the frustration of Grim, in body movements and facial too.

Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design
The principles of design:
1. Emphasis:
-Everything is off to the sides, and the middle isn’t so crowded because of the reflection of the plants above
2. Contrast:
-The darker plants in the reflection stand out more, rather than the coloured plants that isn’t that outstanding
3. Balance:
-The moss crosses (stays in image) throughout the whole image
4. Unity:
-Everything in the image is where it’s supposed to be (fits perfectly in image)
The elements of design:
1.Line:
-Curved/straight plants throughout whole image
2. Colour:
-All warm colours in image
3. Texture:
-Rough plants are grown and come out of the still water
4. Tone/Value:
- The dark shadows/spots in the moss
-Reflection in the water
Objective 4: Lighting
Type of lighting and why:
1.Soft:
-No hash shadows
-Looks 3D in some areas
2. Side:
-Some light is coming from sides of the plants and in water
-Makes it look more 3D
Objective 5: Post Production (ex. dust/spot removal, resize, contrast, white balance, sharpening, borders, etc.)
Corrections/adjustments made AND/OR techniques applied:
Corrections/Adjustments:
-Could adjust the colour of the plants and moss to bring it up looking more vibrant
-Brought in more blur to the plants closer in the image
Objective 6: Critique
Analyse your photograph for strengths and areas for improvement (consider elements and principles of design, lighting, exposure, overall feel, etc.)
Improvement:
-The darkness of the shadows in the water= make it look darker
- Brighten the green parts (moss)
