A female roadrunner going through her morning preen atop a wall in Albuquerque. I am amazed at how many roadrunners have made their home in this city. And look at how many feathers they have!
Caught this little fellow preening himself, a distance shot so a heavy crop was needed to make it worth viewing/posting, its lovely to watch these beautiful birds in the wild doing there thing, and once again I gotta thank me old mate Webby for sharing his knowledge of our local wildlife.

Often during the courtship of the wood storks you will see them preening each other ! This is one of their courting moves showing affection for each other. It is so wonderful to watch them progress in their courtship and certainly a privilege to see.
Wishing you all an awesome and blessed Monday !!!!

I think there is something elegant about her pose and the way that she is preening right down to that last bit of feather.

This Carolina Wren was not alone in the Blackwater NWR as another was near by. It seemed to me that as it perched on this log for a number of minutes that it was clearly looking around, calling, and trying to attract and impress the other wren. It became even more disheveled at times, but this was my favorite photo of the ritual.
A male Scissor-tailed flycatcher perched on a barbed wire fence. Rural Norman, OK. Wish I'd had a little sunlight here. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
Pintails are among the first ducks to migrate south in the fall and north in the spring. Over half of the pintail population in North America migrates through California. The majority of these birds winter in the Central Valley of California, but some continue south to the west coast of Mexico. Pintails using the Central Flyway winter in the Texas Panhandle and the Gulf Coast of Texas and western Louisiana. The majority of pintails using the Mississippi Flyway winter in Louisiana with smaller numbers wintering in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. They migrate in Large, high flying flocks in a wide crescent. They are fast and graceful with speeds of 65 MPH. This Pintail drake preens his feathers at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas.

Meet the Atlantic Puffin. Adored by many. Once you see them fly by and waddle around, you'll probably join the adoration list. Far more adept at swimming than flying, I caught his one preening before taking flight back into the nearby ocean.
