Waiting and watching these White Pelicans preening...and hoping they will stop long enough so I can take a decent shot!

Flamingos spend about 15% to 30% of their time during the day preening. This is a large percentage compared to waterfowl, which preen only about 10% of the time. Flamingos preen with their bills. An oil gland near the base of the tail secretes oil that the flamingo distributes throughout its feathers.

Great Hornbill has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/22682453/184603863

Great Hornbill is an iconic Asian species, so it was a highlight to see this bird — all the more so since it is in trouble due to factors such as deforestation and hunting, and is rated as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. (The entire population is thought to be less than 30,000 mature individuals, and it could be less than half that.) These are very large birds, and although largely black-and-white have bright yellow including on the huge bill, the casque, and the nape. We had the good fortune to see this individual, which was preening, in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi province, Thailand, Southeast Asia.

I believe this is a molting adult Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. No sign of a yellow gape indicating a jurvie. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

Sitting on the bank of a dike in tall grass, I was able to get some photos of a sandhill crane standing in the shallow waters amongst some dried grass and cattails preening its feathers.

Normally I'm cautious of the Geese during nesting time since they can be very aggressive. This one actually swam up to where I was quietly standing on the shore of Bronte Creek, and got up beside me and started preening.

Did some tonal and detail editing in Luminar4.2

Finally got a closer set of the Godwits after they took off with some lapwings and returned

Many thanks to you ALL for the views, faves and comments you make on my shots it is very appreciated.

A Great Blue Heron preens himself on a windy evening. I swear sometimes they could tie their necks into knots!
