The Crown forces had 10 blinds including dummies to begin the game (along with 2 ambush cards). Jim elected to bring them in from all sides which meant that his actions were not very coordinated and rather disjointed. Worked out well for a night game. The Freedmen are coming along the beach and the 3 groups of Light troops are in the center.

Drift practice event
This was the first time using my new Canon 70-200 f/4 L lense and I just love it!
Practicing strainer avoidance stuff - and in this little tributary of the Birkenhead where the water definitely wasn't pumping - nobody who floated down and just wrapped around the log could muscle themselves over it...
May is JulieFrick's month of the TwitterBee. These are not her fabrics, though!
I'm planning to do a block with 4 of these squares. Since I've never pieced curves before*, I thought I should make a practice square. This one came out pretty well, so I think I can move ahead to Julie's fabrics.
This is a 6" square, using Drunkard's Path templates I downloaded here.
Julie's will have a white background and use some of these beautiful fabrics.
* Who am I kidding? I'm a total quilting newbie. I've never even made a quilt before. I'm working on my first one though!
Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018
The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.
The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services
The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

Willow Run Softball Team practice. This is a personal friend of mind. She and her sister are very sweet young ladies.
Weather in Scotland is unpredictable at best, but the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band held its first practice here in Stirling under sunny skies with a cool breeze, conditions that Pipe Sergeant Jack Lee calls “quite bearable.”

Spike practice for Footbag Net. I hung a target about 6 1/2 feet in the air to practice a toe flip. After a short running start, I jump off my left leg with my right leg chambered. At the peak of my jump I snap my right leg, kick the target, and let the momentum of my swing bring my right leg back towards the ground. Most of the time I land on my right leg and both hands. On the rare occasions when my jump is high enough and I get a good swing on my kick, I can land just on one leg. I have yet to hit this in a game, warm-ups or even tossing sets to myself, though.
